Pepper is that vegetable crop that is very useful for the human body. And during cultivation, she also loves warm weather very much with the word. In the composition of such fruits, a high content of vitamin C is noticed, which is more here than in lemons and other vegetables. But pepper is also rich in other trace elements: potassium, magnesium, iodine, and so on
How to plant peppers for seedlings?
In total, the vegetable culture in the form of pepper implies division into three main types - bitter, sweet and semi-hot - each of which also includes a large number of varieties. This culture came to our region from South America and immediately gained popularity, due to the possibility of growing in almost any climate. The minimum temperature indicator for peppers to sprout is fifteen to eighteen degrees. During a period of active growth and intensive development, a twenty or twenty-five degree temperature should be maintained. From the first shoots to the beginning of fruiting, it usually takes a little more than three months.
For this reason, planting peppers for seedlings is an important process during cultivation. This is especially true for the northern regions and places in the middle lane. Even in the south of Russia, pepper is popular among summer residents and gardeners. However, for proper cultivation and a good harvest, a lot of effort is needed. The process of planting this vegetable crop for seedlings with similar agricultural techniques for tomatoes is similar.
The first step is to find a suitable pepper variety, choosing the best of the huge variety. In specialized stores, you can familiarize yourself with these seeds by reading the necessary information on the package. If the summer resident plans to use only fresh fruits for food, then you should pay attention to varieties of peppers with thick walls and large sizes. However, it is worth considering that such vegetables will require more care and maintenance. In another case, when the main goal is canning and the creation of blanks from pepper, it is required to be identified among varieties with small fruits. These crops are less capricious and usually yield good yields.
If you choose thick-walled peppers, you need to be prepared to grow these vegetables in greenhouses. During planting of peppers, the containers with the seedlings of the plant should be marked. Alternatively, you can leave a package of seeds near the container so that you do not get confused later on where and what seeds are sown. For an average family, it is enough to plant twenty bushes of a plant for conservation. But during planting of seeds, they need to be sown in larger quantities, since during the growing season many of them can be affected by diseases or pests, and some even die.
How to sow seeds for seedlings?
Initially, when planting peppers for seedlings, you need to determine the type of seeds and process them properly. Any seeds retain the ability to germinate for three years, if, of course, they are stored in a warm room. The first shoots of peppers can be seen within one and a half or two weeks after planting. Summer residents are pleased with the high percentage of germination of this vegetable crop - about seventy. At the moment, there are many ways and techniques that have a positive effect on the germination and development of crops. Among them there are soaking, hardening, processing with trace elements and much more.
Sorting seeds is best done manually to eliminate dark, empty, and incorrect things. It's not bad if you can hold them for five minutes in a weak solution of table salt (two or three tablespoons per liter of water). Those seeds that float are best removed immediately. Other seeds remaining at the bottom of the container should be washed with water and disinfected with a solution of potassium and potassium permanganate (1%) for thirty minutes. Then they need to be rinsed several more times until the water becomes completely transparent.
Sometimes seeds are germinated in order to check the germination quality. A similar procedure is carried out as follows: some of the seeds must be moistened with water at room temperature. After that, they are laid out on a plate, wrapped in several layers of a damp piece of cloth. The plate itself is wrapped in polyethylene material and kept at a temperature of twenty-seven degrees for fourteen days, constantly re-moistening the flap. The germination of the future harvest is already being judged by the germinated seeds.
