Bright liatris inflorescences delight with their beauty from mid-summer to autumn. Unpretentious care makes it an attractive flower for novice gardeners. Even one adult bush looks gorgeous. How quickly, for a small amount of money, to increase the number of plants?
Reproduction methods
Liatris is propagated in two ways:
• seed;
• vegetative (division of an adult tuber).
Both methods provide good planting material. Let's take a closer look at the technology for increasing the number of plants on the site.
Seed method
Fluffy seeds are sown in three ways:
1. In the autumn under the snow.
2. Early in the spring at home in boxes.
3. In mid-April on the beds under the film.
In the first version, the garden bed is prepared from autumn to the onset of frost. Rotted manure and sand are scattered. Dig it to a depth of 15-20 cm. Weeds are selected. Grooves are cut every 15 cm, with a depth of 0.5 cm. Leave until the onset of stable cold weather.
Before freezing, the seeds are spread evenly. Lightly sprinkle with a fertile mixture so that the "fluffies" are not blown away by the wind.
In the spring, after the snow melts, they put arcs over the garden bed, cover with a film. Monitor humidity. Water as needed. Shoots appear in 3-4 weeks. Once a month, the plantings are fed with a complex fertilizer "Zdraven", reducing the rate by 2 times (0.5 tablespoon per 10 liters of water). In the middle of summer, the plants are ready to be transplanted to a permanent location.
Spring sowing in the ridges is similar to the autumn sowing, with the difference that the seeds are sown in mid-April.
Home crops
In mid-March, a mixture of garden soil, peat, sand in a ratio of 2: 2: 1 is poured into boxes with drainage holes. Rows are cut every 5 cm, sowing depth is 0.5 cm. Spill with potassium permanganate solution. Seeds are distributed, sprinkled with soil.
Cover with foil on top. They are placed for germination in a warm place. After 2-3 weeks, the first shoots appear. The protection is removed gradually, accustoming the young to the dry air of the room. Once every 3-4 weeks, they are fed with Kemira for Flowers fertilizer.
With rare sowing, the plants do not need additional picking. Frequent seedlings are planted in a month in individual cups with a volume of 0, 1-0, 2 liters or in a box with a distance of 3-4 cm between neighbors. When stable warm weather sets in (early June), seedlings are planted in a permanent place.
Bushes obtained from seeds bloom the next year. In the first season, Liatris grows tubers, green mass. With age, the length of the flowering spike increases in size, more buds are tied on one stem.
Rhizome division
The rhizome of 3-5 year old specimens grows to a diameter of 8-14 cm. To rejuvenate the bushes in early spring, they start dividing. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the "pill" into parts, leaving 2-3 growth buds in each.
The sections are sprinkled with ash, slightly dried in the shade to form a surface protective film. In the evening, the delenki are planted in a permanent place.
Areas of use
Liatris has a set of unique qualities, therefore, it has found wide application in various industries:
1.
Decorative. A bright plant with its presence will decorate any, even the most modest flower garden.
2.
Medicinal. Used in folk medicine for quick healing of wounds, with snake bites. The antibacterial properties help treat sore throat by gargling. It has a diuretic, astringent effect. Relieves itching in case of skin diseases.
3.
Applied. An excellent honey plant, loved by bees, bumblebees, butterflies. At the time of flowering, the most abundantly visited plant by winged workers. The dried above ground mass repels moths in wardrobes.
4.
Perfumery. "The King of Smells!" - this is what experts say about Liatrice. Coumarin, found in the aerial part of the plant, adds a hint of delicate aromas of freshly cut grass and vanilla. Dried natural substance, dissolved in alcohols. It acts as an aroma fixer.
This is not a complete list of the positive qualities of luxury culture.
Planting a liatris on the site will bring bright colors to everyday life. An overcast day will seem sunny at the sight of a gorgeous flower. The delicate scent will attract pollinators to the garden for fruit crops. Dried inflorescences, decorated in bouquets, will fill the house with pleasant memories of the warm summer.

Fluffy Candles Liatrice. First Meeting
My acquaintance with Liatrix began 25 years ago. In the store, I was attracted by a pack of seeds of an unusual fluffy flower of lilac color. The germination rate was low, but I managed to get the first 3 seedlings. Later, the seedlings of the white version were discharged with ready-made tubers.
