Fluffy coreopsis (lat. Coreopsis pubescens) - a herbaceous perennial from the genus Coreopsis, which is a representative of the amazingly beautiful Astrovye family. Fluffy coreopsis does not change the traditions of the family and shows the world amazing golden-yellow flowers and ovate-lanceolate green leaves, which, like the stem of the plant, are covered with fluff. It is to this cannon that the plant owes its adjective "fluffy". The beautiful plant is very unpretentious and can grow on poor dry soils, stony and sandy.
Description
Plants of the genus Coreopsis are often called "Sequence", although there is an independent numerous genus of plants with this name. So, Coreopsis fluffy is called "Mealy line" or "Star line".
The adjective "downy mealy" seems to reflect the pubescence of the stem and leaves of the plant. And the adjective "star" plant owes to the green wrapper of the inflorescence, the shape of which is similar to a star, as children usually draw stars. As a rule, fluffy Coreopsis grows in a dense crowded curtain or hummock. Thin pubescent stems are covered with green ovate-lanceolate leaves. At the base of the plant, the leaves can be lobed.

The marginal flowers, like yellow rays of the sun (with a lobed or toothed edge), surround a darker golden-yellow disc in the center of the inflorescence, in which there are tubular flowers responsible for the continuation of the genus Coreopsis fluffy.
The fruit is the achene, which is similar to such small insects as a bug or a tick, which gave the name to the entire genus of plants.
Growing
Fluffy coreopsis does not change the traditions of related plants and takes its golden-yellow color for inflorescences from our sun, since it loves planting sites well-lit by a luminary.
The plant perfectly tolerates heat and dry soil, but during prolonged hot days without life-giving heavenly rains, it is uncomfortable, and therefore it is necessary to sometimes water the plant. Excess moisture, especially on clay soils that like to form stagnant water, Coreopsis fluffy is not to your taste. His immunity gives way to soil fungi, which provoke root rot.
If the soil is clayey in the summer cottage, it is worth diluting it with sand and a small amount of organic matter, and also taking care of the drainage system that removes excess moisture.
Coreopsis fluffy feels most at ease on poor, rocky or sandy soils with good drainage, with dry and medium humidity.
In order to protect the area from unwanted self-seeding, on which all plants of the genus Coreopsis are much more, faded inflorescences should be removed. Such timely removal of flowers that did not have time to ripen to seeds will encourage additional flowering, thereby prolonging the period of beauty of the flower garden. With this kind of care, flowering can continue from spring to autumn warm months. If the wilted flowers are not removed, the flowering period will be much shorter.
On the other hand, the fragility of the plant gradually leads to the degeneration of the curtain, and self-seeding is a natural regulator that maintains the curtain in a good viable state. Therefore, some of the flowers should be given the opportunity to inseminate.
When using Coreopsis fluffy in flower borders or other limited area flower beds, the bushes are separated every 2-3 years to maintain shape and border stability.
Fluffy coreopsis is resistant to pests.
