Experienced gardeners and gardeners are well aware of how powerful and effective such a simple and very inexpensive remedy as green soap is. However, some novice summer residents, oddly enough, have never heard of this miracle cure at all! But it is actually very unusual, because, despite the partly chemical composition, green soap is rightfully considered an environmentally friendly product! It does not emit a harmful smell, and if suddenly green soap accidentally gets on the skin, it will not cause any burns or any discomfort in general! So why can it be useful to us on our sites?
Getting to know each other better
Anyone who believes that green soap is exactly soap is mistaken: in reality, despite some similarities, it has nothing to do with soap and is not. And this product consists of natural ingredients of both vegetable and animal origin: it contains potassium salts, fats extracted from lamb and some other types of livestock, as well as soybean or sunflower oil and water. Green soap has a liquid consistency, so a spray bottle is usually used to use it.
Benefit
Green soap is an ideal plant protection agent in every way! Lying easily and naturally on vulnerable green shoots and fragile leaf blades, green soap forms an almost imperceptible sticky film on them, as a result of which neither gluttonous insects nor the spores of pathogenic fungi take root on the crops treated with this agent! It is thanks to the saving film that the pests remaining on the surface of the plants stop not only feeding, but also moving, and even more so multiplying, since all of them are also covered with the same sticky substance that does not allow them to breathe or lay their eggs. Especially well green soap has proven itself in the fight against insects such as a miniature false shield, as well as soil fly, spider mite, all kinds of caterpillars and aphids.
In addition, green soap is an excellent prophylactic agent against fungal spot, as well as powdery mildew, cytosporosis, scab rust and late blight.
Application
For maximum efficiency, green soap is often mixed with some other active substances: with a wide variety of herbal decoctions, as well as garlic, tobacco or ash, etc. When combined with herbal decoctions, for every ten liters of decoction, they usually take 100 g of green soap, after which everything is thoroughly mixed and the growing crops are abundantly sprayed. By the way, diluted green soap does not cause the slightest harm to either earthworms, or any soil microorganisms, or bees, or inhabitants of reservoirs, or our feathered friends.
An equally effective emulsion is obtained by combining fifty grams of soap with a liter of boiling water, after which pure water is added to this cooled emulsion, constantly stirring it. With such a solution, it is very good to process not only some vegetable crops (tomatoes with cucumbers, as well as potatoes with cabbage), but also berry bushes (blackberries with raspberries or currants), and fruit trees. And this procedure is carried out after sunset or on cloudy days.
To combat insects parasitizing plants, green soap is often combined with tobacco waste or ash, after which the salvage solution is infused throughout the day. And after this time, you can safely go to the site and carry out spraying.
To get rid of bedbugs, four parts of green soap, two parts of kerosene and one part of turpentine are dissolved in twelve parts of water. To get rid of aphids, 400 g of green soap is diluted in ten liters of water, and to fight the scabbards, it will be enough to take 300 g of green soap for each bucket of water. If a spider mite appears on the site, then for greater efficiency it is recommended to combine green soap with stronger drugs: Intavir, Karbofos, Decis, etc. And after a while you will notice that annoying pests finally then retreated!
