Why not try growing your own homemade tangerine? What to grow?
In order to plant tangerine seeds, it is quite possible to limit yourself to a small glass - subsequently, as the sprouts develop, future trees will still have to be transplanted, and more than once. But, nevertheless, the best option in terms of subsequent care will still be a full-fledged flower pot with a pallet, the depth of which is at least ten centimeters.
It is important to remember that in natural conditions tangerines are able to grow only in the southern regions, but it is not always possible to create a suitable microclimate for them at home. Lack of proper illumination (which often happens when the sky is covered with clouds) and interruptions in heating in the absence of a home of the owners almost always lead to the fact that only a small part of the planted seeds sprout. In addition, some of the plants die at the germination stage. That is why you should not limit yourself to a single container for planting seeds - ideally, you should prepare three or even four pots. At the same time, these pots should be placed in different parts of the room - this approach will help increase the chances of success and grow at least one strong tree!
What kind of soil to take?
Mandarin will thrive on moist soils with neutral acidity. Accordingly, there should be no peat in the soil intended for planting it. And even more so, do not use dry old soil left over from past transplants of indoor flowers. Better to buy fresh soil from a flower shop or prepare it yourself. When purchasing land in a store, you should choose neutral soil mixtures, the acidity of which is in the range from 6, 5 to 7. As for self-preparation, in this case, two parts of forest land and humus are mixed with one part of coarse river sand.
Ideally, the soil should be light enough to allow both air and water to pass through without much difficulty. That is why the presence of ordinary building sand in its composition is extremely undesirable - the lack of moisture and oxygen in this case simply will not allow the sprouts to hatch.
What seeds to plant and how to do it?
The seeds obtained from hybrid varieties are considered the best planting material - however, it is these types of tangerines that are most often found on sale. How can you tell them apart? Everything is very simple - varietal tangerines practically do not contain seeds, that is, if there are a lot of seeds inside the fruit, then it is a hybrid.
Why choose seeds from hybrid varieties? Firstly, they hatch and sprout much better, and secondly, they tolerate vaccinations much better and can boast of greater resistance to changes in external conditions (for example, to temperature extremes, etc.).
For germination, pre-selected seeds are placed in a humid environment, but by no means in a container with water - it is quite enough just to wrap them in gauze or a napkin moistened with water and place in a warm place. It is important to ensure that the material remains moist at all times. In such conditions, the bones are kept for two or three days. During this time, they swell, and sprouts begin to peep out of them. This means that it is time to transplant the bones into the ground.
To plant the bones, a drainage layer (for example, expanded clay granules) is laid on the bottom of the pot, and pre-prepared soil is poured on top. The bones should be buried about three and a half or four centimeters. And for the full development of the roots, at least two centimeters must remain before drainage. Next, the holes with the bones placed in them are covered with earth, after which the soil is well leveled. As a rule, seven to eight seeds are planted in one container. And then the pots are installed in well-lit places, the temperature in which is at least twenty degrees and which are characterized by the absence of drafts.
Until the first shoots emerge from the soil, you should be especially careful to ensure that the soil is properly moistened. The grown tangerines need to be watered regularly, and the leaves are best watered from a spray bottle. And as soon as the trees bloom, it is important to ensure that water does not fall on their buds in any case, therefore, spraying with water during this period is not performed - it is quite enough just to water the soil in the lower parts of the trunks. As for feeding, they are usually not given to young trees, and adult specimens are fed from spring to late autumn.
