In Russia, summer residents fell in love with zucchini due to their pleasant taste and exquisite aroma. Therefore, such a vegetable can be found as an ingredient in a variety of dishes, from stews to stews

This crop is easily grown on a plot or at home, without creating unnecessary problems and hassle for the gardener. Zucchini are very unpretentious and easy to care for, although some rules and features are still worth knowing.

Seedlings and their cultivation

Some gardeners germinate seeds before planting seedlings. But experienced experts do not recommend doing this, since the planting material weakens and acquires a yellowish tint. Seeds are planted in containers in the form of cups or cut milk cartons. But it is important that you should not use plastic containers, as water will stagnate in them, and as a result, the seedlings will simply rot.

Before growing zucchini at home, you need to purchase a special bio-soil or create a fertile soil yourself. The land for planting this vegetable must contain a large amount of organic and mineral substances. Seeds are planted to a depth of three to five centimeters. Zucchini does not need frequent watering, although one treatment over five or six days is fine. By the way, water should be used here in considerable quantities - as a rule, half a glass of moisture is consumed per container with seedlings. While the seeds are sprouting, and they turn into sprouts, you will need to carry out a couple of feeding operations.

Growing zucchini at home

At home, vegetable growers often grow zucchini on loggias and balconies. In fact, this process is not as difficult to carry out as it might seem at first glance. The main thing here is to choose the right vegetable variety and observe the basic nuances of care and performing the necessary procedures for the normal development of zucchini. To take care of both seedlings and adult zucchini, the gardener does not need much time, and no special knowledge is needed for this either. However, it is imperative to remember such important points as fertilization and watering. Due to the fact that the plant has a limited area of development in the house, there are different requirements for these procedures. It is also worth taking care of a microclimate that is comfortable for the squash culture.

On the balcony, zucchini are able to receive sunlight and fresh air flows in the amount necessary for them, which has a beneficial effect on the abundance and quality of the crop. If a vegetable grower decided to grow zucchini on the balcony, then he should choose from such varieties and hybrids that are small in size and early ripeness.

Any variety for growing at home should have excellent resistance to temperature changes. Of course, in this case, the squash must also be drought tolerant. In the modern world, there is a huge number of varieties in which undemanding care and high yield rates are in perfect harmony. Zucchini is a fairly hardy vegetable crop, due to which it can be grown both at home and in the open air garden. The color of oblong zucchini fruits can be painted in different shades - for example, white, green, white and others.

Optimal time for planting seedlings

In order to get a crop of zucchini as early as possible, you should use the method of growing zucchini using seedlings. Usually, sowing in this case begins a couple of weeks before the expected time of planting the plant on the site in the open air.

In a situation where the balcony or loggia is located on the south side, zucchini seeds are planted very early in the spring season. Most often, the time of sowing falls on the last days of April or early May. In the case of a north-facing balcony, early planting will adversely affect the plants. As a result, you need to start planting zucchini only in July.

If you comply with all microclimate conditions that are comfortable for the vegetable, as well as the principles of sowing seeds, then they will sprout already on the fifth day after the procedure. True, the air temperature for this must be heated to fifteen degrees. When cold weather is still present, the timing of seedling formation may shift slightly. For example, at a temperature of twelve degrees, it will be possible to see the sprouts only after seven days.
