An unpretentious perennial called "Anemone" will help to decorate the country land in the shade of berry bushes or fruit trees. Ease of growing and bright flowering at different periods of the summer season find many fans among gardeners
Rod of Anemone
Numerous genus
Anemone (Anemone), about one and a half hundred species of unpretentious herbaceous plants, it unites in its ranks. Perennial plants are divided into types with spring flowering and summer-autumn flowering.
The botanical name of the genus is based on the Greek word meaning "wind". That is why we call plants of this genus"
Anemone". This name does not provide for the "easy behavior" of plants at all. The culprit is the wind, under the gusts of which long slender peduncles begin to sway, causing delicate petals to tremble.
Species that bloom in spring are grown for cutting, or used to decorate rocky gardens. Flowerbeds are decorated with species with summer-autumn flowering.
Varieties
* Hupeyskaya anemone (Anemone hupehensis) - also called
Japanese anemone … A tall plant with strong stems, more than a meter in height. It blooms in the summer-autumn period with large flowers, simple or semi-double. The color of the petals can be white, pink (different shades), pink-purple. The center of the flower is golden yellow. Cirrus-dissected large leaves of a dark green color.
Prefers a place in the shade. The soil needs fertile, moist, but without stagnant water. Drought intolerant. Can be aggressive, growing rapidly and displacing other plants.
* Anemone tender (Anemone blanda) - blooms in spring with blue star-shaped flowers. Flowers can be white, pink, purple. Good for rocky hills and under deciduous trees where the environment is very favorable for plant growth and development. Dark green leaves fall off in summer.
* Crown anemone (Anemone coronaria) - has a tuberous thickened rhizome. The crown anemone has given life to many new garden forms, distinguished by a rich variety of color of the petals of large simple, semi-double or double flowers. True, only yellow flowers are not among them.
* Anemone sparkling (Anemone fulgens) - nature itself created a hybrid of Pavonin Anemone and Garden Anemone, decorating its peduncles with bright red flowers in spring. This species also has yellow flowers, for example, the variety "Multi-petal".
* Buttercup anemone (Anemone ranunculoides) - differs from many garden species in small yellow flowers that try to group 2-3 together. Refers to European species.
Growing
Easy cultivation of Anemones makes them ubiquitous. She can be found in a rocky garden; in a city flower bed or in a village front garden; in flower pots that decorate dwellings, balconies, terraces.
Anemones, who have chosen the end of summer-autumn as the time of flowering, like to hide in partial shade, and partial shade and a place open to the sun are suitable for spring flowering.
The soil for successful growth should be fertile, loose and moist, but without stagnant water. Therefore, regular watering is combined with good drainage.
Reproduction
All types of plants are propagated by sowing seeds. In the spring, seeds of summer-autumn flowering are sown. Seeds hesitate for a long time, showing seedlings not earlier than a month after sowing. The grown seedlings are determined in fertile loose moist soil, choosing a place protected from the wind.
As for the species that bloom in spring, they can be propagated by root tubers or by dividing the rhizome into several parts. The procedure is carried out in September-October, or at the end of winter.
Hybrid anemone is propagated by root suckers.
Enemies
Like all plants that love moist soil, Anemone is susceptible to diseases caused by fungi.
In addition, it can be affected by microscopic nematodes; caterpillars of some butterflies, fleas, snails, aphids, ticks like to feast on the leaves of the plant.
