The most unpretentious and beautiful flower for borders and alpine slides is rejuvenated or a stone rose. How to use it to create beautiful compositions?

For several years, I collected a collection of young people. I have long dreamed of a separate flower bed. This year my dream has come true. My sister brought me from vacation small stones of unusual shapes and colors. At the end of the summer, I got down to work.

Creating a masterpiece

The place I chose is open, sunny, protected from strong winds on both sides. To begin with, I dug a trench 30 cm deep. As a drainage, I poured medium-sized pebbles, old shards of earthenware at the bottom.

Fancy colors require loose, permeable soil. I have loam on the site. Therefore, we had to loosen the base with river sand. I carefully dug up the entire site. I chose the roots of malicious perennial weeds. In order to further limit their penetration into the site, I dug in pieces of old slate to a depth of 25-30 cm.

She compacted the soil with her hands to avoid shrinkage. On the ground I marked a carpet pattern with a stick. Distributed large copies by color and texture. Complemented the picture with children. In the general photo, they are still poorly visible. Over time, they will turn into the same beauties as "mummies".

Compacted the earth around the roots. Poured water from a watering can with a fine sieve. I laid out the border of the site with large stones, filled the space between the plants with small stones. In the future, I plan to add lighter gravel to emphasize the color and texture of the young.

From the side of the cherry, I planted Konica fir, Elwoodi cypress. In the future, I plan to increase the landings. These varieties of conifers are distinguished by a slow increase in height. Therefore, while the main space will be occupied by young people. The composition will change slightly as it grows.

The high reproductive rate of succulent plants allows you to quickly increase the amount of planting material. Which is very convenient when creating complex drawings.

The roots of the stone rose are superficial. If necessary, it is easy to change the place of growth without damaging the plants.

Planting care

Rejuvenated are succulents. They have the ability to store moisture in juicy, fleshy leaves. In dry periods, they use it sparingly. Therefore, they do not require frequent watering. Observations of plants show that when the extreme leaves droop, it is necessary to increase the moisture content of the soil.

Often in the literature they write: "The ingress of water into the center of the outlet causes its decay." I have an open place, I always water from a watering can from above. I did not notice such a pattern.

In the wild, the stone rose grows on poor sandy and rocky soils. Feels great. Therefore, she does not need additional feeding.

Weed control in the initial phase of development is the main principle of care. Do not let the roots grow. Otherwise, you can pull them out together with cultivated plants.

First experience

Last year, from the top of a plastic barrel of a beautiful deep blue color, I made 2 flower beds with a stone rose. In each I placed one variety. It turned out unusual. It seems that real water lilies (nymphs) are swimming in a small pond. All that remains is to choose the appropriate color for the filling to enhance this effect.

Unusual guests

The process of creating a rejuvenating garden attracted the attention of all the “inhabitants” of my garden. It is a pity that the camera was not always at hand. First, a frog visited him. I carefully examined the innovation and sat among the stones. Then she went into the shade under the broad leaves of the hosta.

The second guest was a sparrow. He sat for a long time on the edge of the slate, looking at the flowers. Then he flew away on his business.

The last visitor was the Admiral butterfly. I managed to take a great picture of this heavenly beauty. At first she looked from afar. Then she carefully walked with her legs over the large pebbles along the entire landing.

It seems that all the inhabitants really liked my miniature rejuvenating garden. We will continue to improve and experiment with new landings.
