Unfortunately, the technical characteristics of the premises do not always allow building a real fireplace. An imitation of it can be a worthy alternative. What is falshkamin

The idea of creating a fireplace analogy belongs to the townspeople who could not afford to have a real hearth. The name is derived from the German word falsch - fake. The main difference from the wood-burning counterpart is the lack of functionality - it is not suitable for kindling, in a word, it is an impromptu props. When finished, the firebox is decorated with candles, bright cloth, light bulbs, paintings with flames, and is lined with real logs.

The frame looks as close as possible to a real fireplace with a recess for a fire, a worktop, and protruding parts. Projects are created depending on the selected material: foam, drywall, chipboard, polyurethane. When performed independently, it gives a wide opportunity for the embodiment of fantasies, the creation of style directions. It can have any dimensions, be mounted in the living room, loggia, library, bedroom.

Any work begins with choosing a place, then decide on the dimensions, make a drawing and calculate the amount of material needed. To implement the project, you will need a saw, an abrasive mesh, a level, self-tapping screws, a screwdriver. If in the future it is intended to use the inner section for lighting candles, then the "firebox" must be overlaid with heat-resistant material.

Assembling the hearth

Installation of the frame base is done from a metal profile or wooden slats. For a medium-sized false fireplace, a tree will suffice, since there is no weight in the structure that needs to be held. Experts recommend that after collection, treatment with antiseptic liquids.

First, make a support frame, then create a portal and a place for the firebox. Practice shows that it is better to immediately attach the support system to the wall, at the chosen place. The structure must be stable and well fixed with self-tapping screws, without distortions, so you need to use the building level at this stage. After creating the base, cut the drywall, in accordance with the parameters of the drawing, and sew up the necessary parts. When planning to equip the "firebox" with illumination or electronic imitation of fire, make a hole in the box for the electric cable.

Finishing

Getting ready for the putty: to prevent cracking, lay a mounting mesh on all joints. Apply a putty, after final drying, sand the surface with sandpaper. The finishing is carried out according to your wishes: fixing plaster elements, brick-like panels, painting, tiles, self-adhesive foil, flazelin, etc.

If you light candles in the firebox, then you need to overlay the inside with a heat insulator: red brick, asbestos, magnesite. Mirrors can be installed for greater effect.

Polyurethane false fireplace

This design is created with glue and is considered the most durable. Does not cause problems during operation: heat and shock resistant, not afraid of moisture, has an exquisite look. From the same raw materials, you can buy stucco for decoration.

The preparation of the project is identical to the previous version. Make a frame and glue the prepared parts on it, you can immediately attach it directly to the wall. Seal the joints with silicone sealant. After dry, install the decorating pieces and paint.

The cheapness of the material, the ease of installation, which any hostess can handle - these qualities make a fake fireplace made of polystyrene one of the most common. To create a hearth, you need a box of thick cardboard, scotch tape, foam sheets, assembly glue, putty, and a sharp knife. For finishing: foam plinths, moldings, stucco molding, water-based paint, brush.

Installation work

Take a box of the appropriate size or do it yourself, apply a drawing of the future structure to it. We cut the projection of the hearth, bend the edges inward, fasten them with tape. Then we work with polystyrene: cut into the required sizes, glue to the box. We decorate the finished product with purchased items.

We create the upper part (tabletop) from 2-3 layers of cardboard, fix the foam on top and cover with a plastic panel. We coat the joints with putty, after drying we skin, paint 2-3 times. It is easy to create a corner version from this material, the difference lies in the initial cut of the box. A ready-made fake fireplace will create a new home atmosphere and decorate the interior.
