One has only to forget to close the window on a warm summer day, as little annoying arthropods strive to visit us. The main fan of flying around the apartment is an ordinary housefly. How to deal with it?
House flies (Musca Domestica) are common insects whose favorite habitat is landfills, trash cans, compost heaps, sewer pipes and other unclean places. In people's homes, these flies also love to fly, pretty annoying with their presence. But they are not only annoying and disgusting.
Since these flies live in polluted areas, they spread disease-causing bacteria. They transmit more than 65 different types of diseases and infections, including cholera, dysentery, typhus, conjunctivitis, known to everyone. Insects reproduce very quickly. Under favorable conditions for them, females lay 120 eggs at a time, and their life cycle is only 6 days. To protect yourself from the harmful effects of flies, you should not let them into your home. There are some practical tips for dealing with these annoying insects:
1. Limit access to food sources
For reproduction and life of any insects, they need food. Therefore, by limiting its source, it is possible to reduce the spread of insects. Some of the fly's "treats" are manure, food waste, grass cuttings, dead weeds, and any decaying organic matter. It is better to keep such debris away from home and close the container with debris tightly. For waste inside the house, it is better to use hermetically sealed buckets, which it is advisable to periodically wash and disinfect. Do not keep rotting food remains at home for a long time. You need to keep your kitchen sinks clean.
2. Keep flies out of the living area
Flies can get into people's homes in different ways, which it is advisable to suppress:
· Use tight-fitting window and door screens or mosquito nets.
· Constantly close doors and windows, or hang special curtains on them to protect them from the penetration of insects.
· Seal openings around gas and water pipes.
· Install protective mesh screens on the ventilation openings.
3. Use fly traps
The simplest fly trap is made from a plastic bottle. Flies can be trapped by smell.
For this, the neck of a plastic bottle is cut off. A bait is placed at its bottom and a little water is poured. Leftovers of meat, minced meat, fish, rotting fruit, sugar or honey can be used as bait. A cut neck, like a funnel, is put on the top of the trap. The trap is suspended in places where flies are seen. After a week, you can hang up a new trap.
4. Use Velcro
Hanging Velcro straps easily catch adult flies. You can use ready-made Velcro or make your own. To do this, the wrapping paper (regular A4 is also suitable) must be cut into narrow strips (5 cm wide and 15-25 cm long), at the top a hole is made for a rope, through which the Velcro can be hung. This paper strip must be greased with a special adhesive. You can find many variants of it on the worldwide network. Here's one - the simplest: Add 1/2 cup sugar to 1/4 cup corn syrup and bring to a simmer. Cool and grease paper strips on both sides with the mixture. When the syrup is dry, the velcro is hung in places where flies congregate. It is not recommended to place traps above the cooking table.
5. Scare off flies with a carnation
Cloves are not only used as a food spice. Its aromatic scent helps get rid of flies.
Here, for example, is another natural trap: a lemon is cut in half and 7-8 cloves are inserted into each half of it. The halves are stacked on a plate. It is placed next to those places through which flies can enter the dwelling.
6. Use plastic bags
It may sound strange, but this method can really work. Plastic bags with water hung at the entrance to the dwelling scare away flies. The exact cause of this phenomenon is still unknown. Perhaps the flies mistake these transparent bags for cobwebs, so they don't come close to them. Or the reflection from the water disorientates the flies and frightens them. You need to fill a plastic bag halfway with water, throw a shiny coin into it, tie the bag tightly and hang it near the entrance to the house on the sunny side so that the coin can reflect the sun's rays.
7. Scare off flies with essential oils
Lemongrass essential oil effectively repels flies and does not harm people at all. You need to pour half a glass of hot water into a clean spray bottle. Add 20-25 drops of lemongrass essential oil there, shake well and spray in places where flies accumulate. You can add oil to the diffuser and place it in the room where the flies have flown. Instead of lemongrass oil, essential oils of citronella, clove, camphor, eucalyptus, lavender, mint, and cedar are suitable for repelling flies.
8. Use basil
The people-friendly aroma of basil is not to the liking of flies. It is helpful to grow basil in regular flower pots in the room. Dry basil leaves can be placed in cheesecloth and hung in places where flies congregate.

Ways To Deal With Strawberry Mites
The strawberry (transparent) mite very badly damages young strawberry and strawberry leaves, which subsequently turn yellow and, wrinkling, begin to gradually die off. As a result, the plants take on a dwarf appearance, and the strawberries so beloved by many cease to delight with a magnificent harvest of ripe and juicy berries. If bushes with wrinkled small leaves of a yellowish-oily shade appear on the site - it's time to start fighting the strawberry mite
