One of the varieties of the plant is called Voronov's snowdrop. It has a medicinal effect and is more common in the region of Western Transcaucasia. Snowdrop belongs to perennial, bulbous, herbaceous plants. Like many of its brothers - lilies, tulips, daffodils - it reproduces with bulbs.
The snowdrop reaches a height of up to 40 cm, but specimens of 20-30 cm are most often found. His native family is Amaryllis. In this Voronov snowdrop, the stem is an oval-shaped bulb, reaching a size of 2-2.5 cm. In addition to it, there are different types of leaves. The lowest of them is scarious. The leaves in the middle of the stem are bright green, shiny in color. Their shape is wide-body with a keel below. The width of the leaf usually reaches 1.5 cm, and the length is about 12-22 cm.
And January is not scary
The flower stalk of Voronov's snowdrop rises by 15 cm, due to which it is located above the leaves. Each snowdrop has only one white flower with a meekly lowered head, as if slightly wilted. The size of the bud is from 2.5 to 4.5 cm. Flowers have a very delicate and pleasant aroma.
Voronov's snowdrop begins to bloom around March-April, much depends on the weather. It happens at home and wakes up at the end of January. After the snowdrop has faded, a green fruit begins to form, similar to a three-nested capsule.
This primrose has an interesting reproduction mechanism. At the beginning of May, all of its part, which grows above the ground, begins to die off, and by June you will not see it. The fruit that has grown by this time lies on the ground, where it ripens safely and gives roots by autumn. And the part of the plant that is above the ground begins to grow only in spring.

First of all, this amazing flower owes its properties to its excellent composition. It contains a huge variety of substances, some of which are alkaloids (galantin, mycorin and galantamidine). The most important constituent of this flower is galantamine, which is present in the bulbs and aerial parts of the plant. Most of all this substance is found in the bulbs of this primrose.
For medicinal purposes, the bulbs of the plant are usually used. Galantamine is used in many cases, since it belongs to the group of anticholinesterase compounds and acts on the human body as physistigmine, which helps with brain diseases. The action of galantamine is slower, but it has a longer lasting effect.
Substances obtained from snowdrop are sometimes used in ophthalmology and neurology for the correction of polyneuritis and the treatment of osteochondrosis, for traumatic injuries and impaired motor functions, as well as for reducing intraocular pressure. The substance is well suited for the treatment of serious ailments such as polio and cerebral palsy. During the period of application of galantamine, the patient's well-being is noticeably optimized and a number of motor functions are partially normalized.
Caution does not hurt
However, Voronov's snowdrop is contraindicated for use in hyperkinesis, hypertension, epilepsy, bronchial asthma, ischemia and other heart diseases that can interfere with the rhythm of heart contractions. Before using funds with Voronov's snowdrop, be sure to consult your doctor.
Despite the fact that the snowdrop is officially recognized as a medicinal plant, it is also poisonous. In no case should it be used in the form of infusions and tea. Even the water in a vase from under withered snowdrops should be poured out as soon as possible so that no one (especially children) touches it. Poisoning symptoms: profuse salivation, rare heartbeat and dizziness.
