The large-leaved wild rosemary has a lot of flowers that gather in a shield at the very ends of the branches, while the petals of the flowers will be free and falling, these petals are white in color. At the same time, the length of the petals is about four to eight millimeters, and in width they can be from two and a half to four millimeters. The seeds of large-leaved wild rosemary will be quite small and at the same time narrow.
Flowering of this plant occurs in the period from May to June, but the ripening of the fruits occurs approximately in July-August. Under natural conditions, wild rosemary is found in all regions of the Far East, in addition, this plant can also be seen in the countries of Scandinavia, Central Europe, as well as in China, Japan and the Balkans.
Under natural conditions, large-leaved wild rosemary grows in moss bogs, at the edges of stony taluses, in damp larch forests, and also in the mountains, where the height above sea level does not exceed one thousand six hundred meters.
Medicinal properties of large-leaved wild rosemary
This plant has very effective medicinal properties, while young shoots and leaves of large-leaved rosemary are used for medicinal purposes. The plant contains about two to three percent of the essential oil. The composition of this essential oil includes the following elements: phenols, iceol, karen, pinene, limonene, cineole, as well as acids such as formic and valeric. In the shoots of large-leaved wild rosemary, a high content of the following coumarins is noted: scopoletin, esculetin and umbelliferone. Essential oil was found in the leaves of the plant, as well as phenols and flavonoids, and in addition, their derivative called arbutin.
For cough, whooping cough, and besides this, for rheumatism and scrofula, an infusion of wild rosemary herb is used. This remedy is used as an expectorant. In China, such an infusion is also used for stomach diseases such as peptic ulcer and gastritis.
In the course of experimental studies of large-leaved wild rosemary, it was found that the essential oil of this plant, in turn, is also endowed with a rather high anti-inflammatory effect.
To combat all of the above diseases, it is recommended to use a certain solution prepared from large-leaved wild rosemary. The resulting mixture should be taken one tablespoon three times a day. To prepare this infusion, you will need to take about six grams of chopped dry wild rosemary herb for one glass of boiling water, this mixture should be infused for at least two hours. After this time has passed, the mixture should be thoroughly filtered.
