Did you know that there are about 450 museums and galleries in Moscow? Together with a huge number of exhibitions (1,600 took place in 2019 alone!) And their visitors, this makes it one of the leading museum capitals in the world. It was decided to dedicate the holiday in honor of the 873rd anniversary of Moscow to them - the keepers of priceless masterpieces and testimonies of our victories, the most important achievements in culture, science, technology, and sports. On September 5 and 6, City Day will be celebrated at more than 40 city and park sites. Unique art objects, historical reconstructions, intellectual games, master classes, exhibitions, lectures and sports entertainment, inspired by the main museum exhibits of the capital, will await its guests. And, of course, special programs from Moscow museums are planned

On City Day, Muscovites will be able to stroll through more than 40 sites throughout the capital

Opening hours of the sites: September 5 and 6 from 10.00 to 22.00

The holiday is organized in compliance with all the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor for holding public events.

To show how rich and diverse the expositions of Moscow museums are, the City Day celebrations sites were dedicated to several large “museum” themes. They will take guests to the distant past, let them touch the great works of art, tell about natural resources, the wonders of science and technology.

In the park "Kolomenskoye" guests of the holiday will discover Moscow of the 16th-17th centuries. They will find themselves in a noisy Streletskaya settlement, "inhabited" by reenactors. They will see the Tsar's troops review, visit the workshops of a weaver, a tanner and a blacksmith. The impressive art object "Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge" will acquaint you with the architectural appearance of medieval Moscow with its wooden houses and stone chambers.

In the park "Pechatniki" everyone will be able to feel like real archaeologists - take part in impromptu excavations, learn how to sort and describe the finds. Historians will tell them about the most interesting archaeological artifacts discovered on the territory of Moscow.

In the park "Mitino" it will be possible to visit the railway junction during the First World War: to study the carriage, re-equipped according to the model of 1914 for the needs of military medicine, to talk to the sisters of mercy, to observe the gathering of soldiers and generally to learn a lot of interesting things about the role of the railways in wartime.

Moscow vintage car museums are becoming more and more popular. And on September 5 and 6, such an exhibition will take place on the Academic Square in Troitsk! There you will see different models of Soviet cars, study their structure, and with the help of a special device, anyone can independently lift a car weighing more than 1 ton (honestly, honestly!).

Site in Victory Park in Zelenograd will be dedicated to the defense of Moscow in 1941. There will be installed art objects in the form of a T-34-76 tank, military aircraft and the Order of the Red Star, and visitors will have a unique opportunity to visit the militia headquarters recreated by reenactors - to see how the volunteers were recorded (the militia consisted only of them), to learn the basics encryption and work of radio operators.

In the "Lianozovsky" park it will be possible to study the everyday life and cultural life of Moscow in the 19th century. Art objects will help you with this - the "revived" paintings "Moscow Tavern" by B. М. Kustodiev, “Bargaining. Scene from serf life "N. V. Nevreva, "Round dance in the Kursk province" by K. A. Trutovsky, engraving "The Rhymer Reads His Poems" by I. I. Terebenev. Professional actors in the same interiors and costumes as the heroes of the paintings will act out scenes based on their motives.

In Izmailovsky Park with the help of art objects and theatrical scenes, they will recreate one of the final battles of the Patriotic War of 1812 - the battle at the Berezina. So, during one of the reconstruction programs, guests will see how mobile crossings - bridges were built at the beginning of the 19th century. Here they will also find a large art object in the form of the most massive award of the Russian Empire - the Order of St. George.

Walk on the site "Science and Technology" in the park "Krasnaya Presnya" promises to dive into the world of invention and experimentation! Guests will be able to take part in intellectual games, understand the principle of the Archimedes screw using a large art object, and get acquainted with lighting technology from different eras.

In the Children's Landscape Park "Yuzhnoye Butovo" cognitive art objects will appear - 3D showcases. Some will acquaint with the natural complexes of Moscow, others - with its customs, holidays and life of the past centuries, and still others will tell about the significant events of our military history. An art school will also open on the site.

The site in the park "Kuzminki" dedicated to the flora and fauna of the capital. Here you will be "greeted" by amazing showcases in the form of animals - the inhabitants of the Moscow Zoo, and the hosts will invite you to take part in master classes on planting and caring for plants.

One of the central venues of the festival is the space between Manezhnaya Square and Revolution Square … There will be several beautiful themed lounge areas where you can relax and take spectacular photos, and a large-scale art object "Botanical Garden Trail" in the form of an ecotrail with a pond-pond made of LED screens and real green spaces.

City venues in metropolitan districts will be no less interesting! 13 such sites will take part in the holiday, including two new ones - at the intersection of Sokolovo-Meshcherskaya and Yurovskaya streets in the North-West Administrative District and on Klyuchevaya Street, possession 22 in the Southern Administrative District (near the Alma-Atinskaya metro station)

Their guests will be offered to make a journey into the world of exact and humanitarian sciences, painting and history together with the museums of Moscow. Art studios will open there, where you can get acquainted with different directions of painting and draw in the open air. Museum lectures, culinary studios and recycling workshops will open for visitors, the presenters of which will teach how to create beautiful things from recycled materials and environmentally friendly materials.

At the "Geological Station" on Gorodetskaya Street guests will learn about the intricacies of geological exploration and the tectonic structure of the Earth, study different types of volcanic rocks and minerals. On Orekhovy Boulevard, they will be told about the principles of artificial intelligence and robot programming. And on Profsoyuznaya Street they will show you how to paint ceramics, make beautiful home accessories from white clay, prepare a light salad with tuna and sun-dried tomatoes and delicious chocolate muffins.

The festive atmosphere at the venues will be supported by talented artists from the stage: puppet theaters - laureates of the Golden Mask Prize, youth theater companies, jazz and acapella groups will perform for the guests of the festival!
