It just so happened that we strive to protect our home from the wind and noise, the hum of passing cars and the curious glances of passers-by. In this case, an ordinary fence or fence can be a salvation. However, many will agree that it does not look particularly beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. What is the way to come up with a way out in order to create the protection of their possessions and thereby improve the landscape design?

The answer to this question arose back in the depths of the eighteenth century, when hedges were first planted. This dense planting of plants was supposed to not only fence, but also serve as an adornment of the adjacent territory. Nowadays, hedges have become very popular, especially for the improvement of summer cottages. It is the most economical option compared to a fence device. In addition, it is unpretentious in terms of planting and care, so even a novice amateur gardener can create it with their own hands. I would like to note that some types of such a green fence can significantly decorate the facade of a house or the dull look of an ordinary fence. This applies, for example, to climbing roses or wild rose hips. Sometimes wild grapes are used as a plant for arranging a hedge. It not only protects from prying eyes, but also keeps you cool on hot days, cleans the air from dust. The grapes look especially beautiful in autumn, when its leaves acquire a bright, elegant color.

The main types of green hedges

Before you decide to create a "live" fence on your site, you should understand its types. An important role here is played by the type of the selected fence, so you first need to think over its design features.

A hedge is classified according to several criteria:

- in height;

- in form;

- by the number of rows (tiers);

- by the type of haircut.

A green fence higher than two meters is considered high. Another name is walls, trellises. Most often, it is arranged from spruce, thuja or juniper. For an average height within 1-2 meters, various flower plants of low density are used. Hedges-curbs, having a height of up to 1 meter, are mainly formed from dense, low-growing plants that are planted along paths and paths.

The hedgerow can be molded or free-growing. In the first case, with the help of shearing, the plants are given the desired geometric shape, and for the second type, their free growth is characteristic. Sometimes molded fences are real works of art: the masters of landscape design manage to create geometric shapes of unprecedented beauty.

Planting rows also play an important role in hedging. In the event that the plants are planted along one line at a certain distance, then such a green fence is considered single-row. Two and three-row planting provides for their placement in various high-rise tiers. By combining molded and free-growing tree and shrub species, you can create wonderful cascading hedges that provide excellent protection from wind, noise and dust.

Features of planting and care

Before starting work on planting a hedge, you should decide on the place and its features. After all, it is very important that plants do not lack sunlight, moisture and nutrients. An equally important step is the selection of the plants themselves. For planting a green space in the form of a hedge, you should choose young trees and shrubs aged from three to six years. The planting material must have a good root system and a well-formed crown. The best time to start a hedge is in the spring or fall. In addition, it should be remembered that the green space should be located far from buildings and at a distance of 0.5-1.5 meters from the fence.

Proper care of green hedge plants is very important: timely watering, feeding with organic and mineral fertilizers, as well as timely haircut. It must be remembered that if you do not carry out the necessary pruning of plants, then the hedge can grow, and it will be very difficult to put it in order.
