Micrantemum small-flowered lives in North America, on its eastern coast. As a rule, it can be found in freshwater reservoirs of relatively shallow depth or in swamps. Undoubtedly, this aquatic beauty is also an excellent solution for decorating aquariums. Micrantemum low-flowered is very unpretentious and does not cause any particular difficulties in maintenance, therefore, novice aquarists love it very much. And the extraordinary decorativeness of this aquatic inhabitant makes it possible to create the most exquisite compositions

Getting to know the plant

Micrantemum low-flowered - an extremely delicate aquatic inhabitant with slightly branching, erect and elongated stems. Its height usually ranges from twenty to thirty centimeters. The light green leaves of this representative of the Norichnikovye family, characterized by the absence of petioles, sit three or four pieces in whorls. The leaflets of a wonderful green pet can be either oblong or lanceolate. They grow in length up to one centimeter, and in width - up to 0.3 centimeters. The tops of all leaves are obtuse, and the bases are wedge-shaped. They look very impressive.

The root system of this aquatic beauty is underdeveloped and creeping. And this is an undoubted advantage - a colorful aquatic beauty, thanks to this feature, is excellent for creating magnificent aquarium compositions as a ground cover plant.

If you provide the micrantemum with the proper conditions, then it, growing quite quickly (and it grows up to ten centimeters per month), turns into a wonderful shelter for fish during spawning.

How to grow

The most optimal water parameters for the comfort of the low-flowered micrantemum will be a temperature of fifteen to twenty-eight degrees, an acidity in the range of 6 - 8 and a hardness in the range of two to fifteen degrees. An important condition is also the filtration of water and its weekly replacement up to one fifth of the total volume.

Periodically, low-flowered micrantemum is recommended to be fed. To do this, add a small amount of clay to the soil (blue clay is perfect). Small pieces of clay can be placed under the roots and during planting. As for the soil, fine gravel or coarse sand is best suited for it.

Micrantemum low-flowered lighting prefers bright. An excellent source of additional light will be fluorescent lamps, the power of which should be in the range from 0.6 to 0.7 W / l. By the way, if the lighting is bright, the gentle green pet will actively release oxygen. In aquariums densely planted with this plant, due to this feature, there is often no need for additional aeration of the water.

When growing micrantemum of little-flowered, it is important to know that its extremely delicate stems with leaves from time to time can be attacked by snails and some fish (barbs, cichlids and others). Plus, this luxurious aquatic creature is incredibly susceptible to algae growth. If the algae begins to attack the sensitive aquatic beauty, then you can use the conditioner "Cidex" (Cidex).

Reproduction of a beautiful aquatic inhabitant occurs by separating young shoots from the bases of its roots or dividing the stems. And if a growth point is pinned on the main stalk, the magnificent aquatic beauty will begin to eject additional and numerous lateral shoots from the leaf sinuses. Such shoots should be planted as soon as possible in aquariums, where they take root almost immediately and start growing. They take root, as a rule, perfectly. And in order to turn into an adult plant, the little-flowered micrantemum will take from four to six weeks. If you still cut off the tops of the wonderful aquatic inhabitant, it will begin to bush and release juicy side shoots.
