Where do they come from
Drosophila midges most often appear above houseplants, they can circle over vases of flowers, over fruits, vegetables, or a trash can. At the dacha, a "flock" of midges breeding from disorderly dacha neighbors can also fly into the open window of the kitchen of your dacha. Ways to remove midges
Before you start breeding gnats, determine which place in the house attracted them the most. Pay attention, maybe they are circling and there are most of them above the garden bucket, which contains vegetables and fruits collected from the garden. These fruits need to be urgently sorted out, to remove rotten, spoiled, broken ones.
Maybe after dinner, pieces of food (especially sweet ones) rolled under the table. You do not see them, but midges smell them a mile away and are already hatching this place.
You may be too rarely to take out the trash from the bin, or you may not empty the bin itself after each trash removal. On a poorly cleaned bucket with yesterday's garbage, midges breed at lightning speed.
So, have you found a place where midges "crowd"? Start by cleaning it up, by eliminating the cause of their appearance. If you spotted gnats above flower pots, reduce watering of plants in them, stick matches in the ground with sulfur heads in the ground of the pots, and pour small pebbles on the surface of the ground in the pots.
Discard the flowers in the vase, and rinse the vase well with baking soda or laundry soap.
The trash can, of course, needs to be cleaned every day, dried with paper towels. Better yet, use disposable trash bags that you need to put on the bucket and throw away the contents of these bags every day.
A good tool for destroying a flock of midges is a vacuum cleaner. Take this unit from the apartment and use it in the country. You just need to suck the mosquitoes into it, and take the vacuum cleaner bag as far as possible outside your summer cottage.
Make midge baits in the kitchen. For example, when drinking sweet yogurt, do not throw the glass out from under it, but put the rotten fruit (slice) from your garden in it. Cover the cup with plastic wrap, punching small holes in it. By the morning, you will find that the mass of midges inside the glass already lives, but cannot get out.
Install a mosquito net on your summer cottage windows, or at least pull a thick gauze over them. Spray a net or gauze outside the street with a spray that repels and kills flying insects. This will scare away uninvited guests from the street, and they will not enter your kitchen through the window.

Try, as soon as you notice that midges scattered around your dacha, store all products in the dacha refrigerator or cellar. Store loose products in tightly sealed glass jars. Sort out the harvest in time, freeze food, cook jam, roll up the jars. By the way, after canning the cans, no matter how tired you are, still carefully remove the remnants of food after you, wash the floor with a disinfectant to remove the drops of that jam accidentally spilled from the spoon, and so on.
Remember an important point - gnats simply do not need to be given a chance and opportunity to breed, you do not need to provide them with a convenient field of activity for this. And then the midges will not only leave your home forever, but will no longer come to visit.
