Serpukha thistle is one of the plants of the family called Asteraceae or Compositae, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Serratula cardunculus (Pall.) Schich. (S. nitida Fisch. Description of the thistle crescent

Thistle serpukha is a perennial herb that will fluctuate in height between twenty and fifty centimeters. The rhizome of this plant is quite powerful and short, it will be endowed with numerous filamentous roots. The stems of the Thistle are straight, furrowed and simple, although they are rarely branched in the upper part. The basal leaves of this plant will be elliptical, they are on long petioles. The length of such leaves is about five to twenty centimeters, and the width turns out to be equal to one to five centimeters. These leaves can be either short-pointed or blunt, and below they are bluish. The stem leaves of the thistle are smaller and sessile. The baskets of this plant are located on elongated peduncles, there are about two to seven of them, there are such baskets on the lateral branches of the stem, it is noteworthy that sometimes the baskets can be single. The corolla of a thistle crescent will be pale, its length will be about fifteen millimeters, and such a corolla is painted in lilac-pink tones. The corolla, in turn, is endowed with a thin tube, the length of which is four to five millimeters, while the length of the achenes is about nine millimeters. Achenes of this plant are painted in brown tones, and the length of the tuft is eight to nine millimeters.

The flowering of the thistle serrata falls on the period from May to June. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of Central Asia, as well as the following regions of the European part of Russia: Zavolzhsky, Upper Volga, Lower Don, Volga-Kama and Lower Volga. For growth, this plant prefers desert steppes, the shores of solonetzic mountains, fallow lands, steppe and solonetz meadows.

Description of the medicinal properties of the thistle serpukha

Thistle serpukha is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the inflorescences and grass of this plant. Grass includes leaves, stems and flowers.

As for Tibetan medicine, here this plant is quite widespread. The infusion and decoction, prepared on the basis of the herb of the serpentine thistle, are indicated for use as a very effective wound-healing and hemostatic agent. In case of scrofula, an infusion based on the inflorescences of this plant should be used in the form of baths. It is noteworthy that in the Urals, a decoction of the herb of the serpentine thistle is used as an analgesic.

As an analgesic, it is recommended to use the following remedy: for the preparation of such a medication, you will need to take one tablespoon of the herb of the thistle serpentine per one glass of water. The resulting medicinal mixture should first be boiled for three to four minutes, then left to infuse for about two hours and strain very thoroughly. Take the resulting drug based on the thistle serpukha three times a day, regardless of the meal, one or two tablespoons. With proper use, such a remedy turns out to be very effective.
