Crowned serpukha is a large perennial herb, endowed with a rather powerful horizontal woody rhizome and numerous filamentous roots. The stem of this plant is knobby, erect, furrowed and naked, while in the upper part it will be branched. The height of such a stem fluctuates between thirty-five and one hundred and fifty centimeters. The basal and lower stem leaves of Crowned Serpukha are long-petiolate, while all other leaves will be alternate, sessile and bare. Sometimes such leaves can also be sparsely hairy along the veins, they are painted in reddish or green tones, but sometimes they can be bluish below. In addition, the leaves of the Crowned Crescent can be both elliptical and oblong, they are imparipinnate into ovoid or ovoid-lanceolate lobes. The length of the leaves of this plant is about three to twelve centimeters, the width is one to five centimeters. The flower baskets of the Crowned Crescent will be rather large, ovate and most often few in number, they are located on the tops of the stems and the ends of the lateral branches on very noticeable peduncles, and such flower baskets also form a corymbose inflorescence. The flowers of the Crowned Crescent are painted in lilac-purple tones, they are bisexual, while some of the marginal flowers can be female, they can be either endowed with underdeveloped stamens, or not. The length of the rim is about twenty to twenty seven millimeters, and the length of the tube is about fifteen millimeters. The column will slightly exceed the rim, in turn, such a column is endowed with two long grooved and linear blades. The fruits of the Crowned Serpukha are oblong achenes, which are thinly grooved, glabrous and endowed with a brownish color.
The flowering of this plant occurs in the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, the crowned sickle is found on the territory of Central Asia, the southern half of the European part of Russia, Siberia, Kazakhstan, the Far East and Ukraine.
Description of the medicinal properties of Crowned Serpukha
Crowned serpukha is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. Grass includes stems, leaves and flowers.
It should be noted that the chemical composition of this plant has not yet been fully studied. Ascorbic acid, traces of alkaloids and the flavonoid apiin are present in the herb of the Crowned Herb.
Healing products based on this plant are used exclusively in traditional medicine. Here, the infusion and decoctions based on Crowned Serpus are used as very effective sedatives, choleretic, astringent, anti-febrile, antiemetic and anti-inflammatory drugs. The herb infusion is indicated for use in diarrhea and jaundice, herb infusion or a decoction of rhizomes is used for rinsing with laryngitis, tonsillitis and pharyngitis.
