Description of mealy mullein

Mealy mullein is a biennial herb, endowed with densely set tiny hairs, which will be stellate, adpressed, and they are painted in grayish-green tones. The stem height of this plant will be about fifty to one hundred and sixty centimeters. Such a stem will be erect, leafy, branched and ribbed. The leaves of this plant can be either lanceolate or ovoid. The inflorescence of this plant is a strongly pyramidal panicle. The corolla is painted in yellow tones, while rarely it can also be whitish, its diameter will be about twelve to twenty millimeters. The capsule of the mealy mullein is dull, naked and elliptical, its length is four to five millimeters, and its width will be about two and a half to four millimeters.
The flowering of the mealy mullein falls on the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of Ukraine, Belarus, Western Siberia and in all regions of the European part of Russia, with the exception of only the North and North-West. For growth, this plant prefers steppe slopes, fixed sand, forest edges, steppes and open places in mountain forests. It is noteworthy that the mealy mullein is not only a very valuable honey plant, but will also be an ornamental plant.
Description of the medicinal properties of mealy mullein
Mealy mullein is endowed with very valuable medicinal properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the roots, flowers and leaves of this plant.
The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of saponins, iridoids, myoinositol, alkaloids, coumarins, tannins, vitamin C, higher aliphatic carbohydrates, alcohols, glucose, sucrose and manose in the plant. This plant is used as a valuable anti-inflammatory agent for various gynecological diseases, as well as in the postpartum period.
An infusion prepared on the basis of the flowers of this plant is recommended to be taken orally for bronchitis, cough, whooping cough, pneumonia, inflammatory diseases of the digestive system, hemoptysis, hoarseness of the head, asthma, shortness of breath and acute respiratory infections. In addition, such an infusion should also be used for rinsing the throat and mouth in various inflammatory processes.
Tincture of mealy mullein flowers should be used for rubbing as an anesthetic for arthritis, neuralgic pain and rheumatism. Powder of flowers of this plant should be sprinkled with various cracks on the nipples and wounds: in this case, such places should first be lubricated with carrot juice.
It is recommended to apply scalded flowers or leaves of this plant to burns, wounds and inflamed areas as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and wound healing agent. A broth prepared on the basis of the roots of mealy mullein can be used for baths and washing with hemorrhoids. It is noteworthy that the seeds of this plant were previously one of the constituent parts of ointments intended for the treatment of long-term non-healing wounds.
