Garden strawberries, known among gardeners as strawberries or victoria, are very popular. First of all, this berry is famous for its excellent taste. Also, strawberries ripen the first of all berries, they ripen very quickly and with proper care you can harvest a large harvest.

Growing conditions

First of all, you need to prepare the soil well for planting strawberries. This berry does not tolerate a lack of moisture, but it also does not like waterlogging. If your site is close to groundwater, then for strawberries you need to make raised beds. The multi-tiered beds in the form of round flower beds look very beautiful; it is also convenient to process and pick berries on such beds.

Usually, it is necessary to process fertile bushes in the fall. It is necessary to remove old dried leaves, overgrown mustaches, weed out, loosen the ground around the bushes, and spud. For the winter, you can cover the berry with branches of spruce trees or old covering material. Covering material around the perimeter of the garden bed must be secured so that it is not blown away by the wind. This must be done before the onset of severe cold weather and the first snowfall. If the winter is snowy, then strawberries winters well. If there is little snow, the strawberries may freeze out.

Before flowering, it is necessary to loosen the ground well around each bush. As soon as the berry blooms, it cannot be loosened and weeded, since the flowers can be damaged and the result will not be a very rich harvest. During flowering, you can sprinkle strawberries with an "ovary" from a spray bottle, it can be universal for vegetable and fruit crops. It is better to spray in the morning or evening, when there is no sun and not in rainy weather. The flowers will burn out from the sun, and the rain will wash away the whole "ovary".

Breeding

It is necessary to plant strawberries in August or spring - before the start of all sowing work.

Before planting, it is necessary to make holes at a distance of about twenty centimeters from each other. This is necessary so that in the subsequent care you do not damage the neighboring bush. You need to plant only those young bushes that are rooted. Strawberries grow the so-called whiskers, on which numerous young bushes grow. If you are going to grow your own berry, of some variety you like, then you need to know that for breeding you can take only the first plant from one tendril from the main bush. The young bushes following the first do not need to be planted, since they will not bear fruit.

Before planting, it is necessary to make holes at a distance of about twenty centimeters from each other. This is necessary so that in the subsequent care you do not damage the neighboring bush. Having prepared for planting, the young plants you have selected can be placed in some container with water. Before planting, pour about one liter of water into each prepared hole and immediately place the plant in the resulting earthen slurry and carefully sprinkle it with earth. I try to sprinkle so that there is a small depression around the planted bush. This is very convenient for the subsequent watering of the plants - the water does not spread over the entire garden bed, but goes directly to the roots. Until young plants take root, it is necessary to water once a day in the morning or in the evening.

Preparation for the winter

Strawberries are a delicious berry. You can eat it with sugar, milk, make all kinds of desserts and pies. You can also prepare your favorite berry for the winter. You can freeze, cook jam, make compote.

I love frozen strawberries. I freeze whole berries in the freezer, which can then be used instead of food ice for making cocktails and fruit drinks. I also freeze, after beating the berry with a blender until smooth. If the berry is not very sweet, then you can add a little sugar to the resulting mass, mix thoroughly and arrange in plastic containers. In winter, this mass can be used for making fruit drinks, as a syrup for ice cream, for baking pies.

Pie recipe

We buy frozen yeast puff pastry. Better to buy a package in which there are two sheets of dough. Defrost the dough, roll out one sheet, slightly bend the edges, spread the thawed berry mass on top. Cut the strips from the second sheet of dough and put them cross on the cross, securing them to the sides of the bottom sheet of dough. We bake in the oven for twenty minutes at an oven temperature of two hundred degrees. Delicious and easy to prepare cake is ready!
