Description of the fragrant rue

Ruta odorous is a perennial shrub, painted in gray-green tones. Such a shrub will branch out at the very surface of the earth. This plant is endowed with a very peculiar strong aromatic smell, and its height will fluctuate between fifty and one hundred centimeters. The stems of the odorous rue are erect and numerous. The leaves of this plant are alternate, they are painted in bluish-green tones, while the lower and middle leaves will be petiolate, they can be both double-pinnate and triple-pinnate, and are also oblong-obovate and spread out. At the top, the lobes of such leaves will be rounded and they are endowed with translucent point glands. The upper leaves of the odorous rue are pinnately dissected and sessile, they will be endowed with linear-lanceolate lobes. The flowers of this plant are painted in greenish-yellow tones, they are on rather short pedicels and gather in a thyroid panicle. There are only five sepals of the odorous rue, they will be sharp and ovate-lanceolate in shape. The corolla of this plant has only five petals, they will be concave and endowed with rather long marigolds. There are ten stamens of this plant, the pistil will be endowed with a short column and a five-celled upper ovary. The fruit of this plant is a blunt-bladed box, which in turn will be studded with glands.

The flowering of this plant occurs in the period from June to the month of July. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Crimea, the Middle East and all southern regions of Europe. For growth, this plant prefers sunny places, as well as light and well-permeable soil both air and moisture. As for the reproduction of this plant, this process takes place through cuttings. At the same time, fragrant rue can be grown in the garden from seeds.

As for traditional medicine, here this plant is quite widespread. Fragrant rue has the ability to increase menstruation, improve digestion and appetite, and is also endowed with anesthetic, antiseptic, wound healing, tonic, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects. An infusion based on the leaves of fragrant rue is used as a means of calming the nervous system and as a tonic. Also, such an infusion is used for rush of blood to the head, various neuroses, dizziness and palpitations. With proper application, the positive effect is noticeable quite quickly.
