Mallow neglected is one of the plants of the family called mallow, in Latin the name of this plant will sound like this: Malva neglecta Wall. As for the name of the neglected mallow family itself, in Latin it will be like this: Malvaceae Juss.

Description of the neglected mallow

The neglected mallow is an annual herb, the height of which will fluctuate between eight and forty centimeters. The stems of this plant are numerous, branched, pubescent stellate hairs, they can be either recumbent or straight or ascending. Leaves of neglected mallow will be alternate, long-petiolate, in outline they are rounded, but sometimes they can be reniform, fine-toothed or crenate, such leaves will be pubescent by means of stellate hairs, especially from below. The flowers of this plant are painted in pinkish tones, they will be on unequal, long and star-pubescent pedicels, which are three to four pieces coming out of the very axils of the leaves. The calyx with the subduction of this plant will be pubescent, while up to half it is incised into triangular-ovoid lobes. The cup of neglected mallow consists of three free oval or linear leaves. In this case, the subchapter can be either twice as short or slightly longer than the calyx itself. The length of the petals of this plant reaches fourteen millimeters, they turn out to be two to three times longer than the calyx and are deeply elliptic. The stamens of the neglected filaments grow together into a tube, which will be pubescent by means of long simple hairs. The fruit of this plant is a fractional capsule, which, after ripening, will disintegrate into about twelve to sixteen fluffy, finely wrinkled fruitlets, the edges of which will be either slightly pointed or rounded in shape.

The bloom of the pre-breached mallow falls on the entire summer period. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in Western Siberia, the European part of Russia, Belarus, Central Asia and Ukraine.

Description of the medicinal properties of neglected mallow

Neglected mallow is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the leaves and the entire aerial part of this plant for medicinal purposes. Such medicinal raw materials should be harvested throughout the entire flowering period of this plant. First, such raw materials should be dried in the sun, after which it is important to dry them in the air under a shelter.

The presence of such valuable healing properties should be explained by the content of neglected mucous and tannins in the mallow, while the leaves will contain carotene, tocopherol and vitamin C. The seeds of this plant contain fatty oil.

Neglected mallow is endowed with a very effective analgesic, anti-inflammatory, emollient, expectorant and sedative effect.

The infusion and decoction, prepared on the basis of the aerial part of this plant, have found quite wide application in folk medicine. Here, such medicinal products are used for diarrhea, dry cough, bronchitis, enterocolitis and colitis. For rinsing with stomatitis, laryngopharyngitis and sore throat, it is recommended to use a strong decoction prepared on the basis of the herb of this plant. It should be noted that a decoction based on the roots of neglected mallow is used as an abortifacient. In addition, a decoction of the leaves of this plant is used externally for scrofula and erysipelas.
