It should be noted that marsh marigold is also a medicinal plant. Among other things, the marsh marigold is also poisonous. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found throughout Europe, Russia, Mongolia, China, as well as in North America and Japan. According to the development cycle, the marsh marigold is a perennial. The height of such a plant can be from three to fifty centimeters, while most often the height turns out to be only thirty centimeters.

This perennial herb is endowed with a rather dense bush structure, and its root system is fibrous. The stem will be fleshy and can be either ascending or erect. Actually, sometimes marsh marigold can be endowed with a recumbent stem, which will take root in the nodes. The flowers of this plant are located on rather long peduncles, which are located in the axils of the upper leaves. Both flowers and leaves of this plant are endowed with decorative properties.

The leaves are alternate and whole, and they can also be reniform or cordate. At the edges, these leaves will be jagged, and in color they are dark green, these leaves are shiny, leathery and dense. The basal leaves of this plant will be quite large, their diameter can reach twenty centimeters. As for the stem leaves, they will be smaller and almost sessile. The peak of decorativeness of this plant falls on the period of its flowering. At the same time, the flowering of the marsh marigold will begin at the end of April and will last approximately until the beginning of May. The flowers of this plant are colored yellow or orange.

The flowers will be simple, they consist of five leaves and are endowed with a waxy sheen. The fruit of this plant is a multileaf, which will contain about ten black shiny seeds. The seeds ripen around the month of May-June, while they can swell in water, gradually turning into a swimming organ.

Description of the features of care and planting of the marsh marigold

The marsh marigold planting zone is a damp and swampy shore, while the planting depth should be about five to ten centimeters. The soil can be anything, but it is recommended to give preference to peaty soil, which will be rich in nutrients. The cold hardiness of this plant is quite high, and the winter hardiness will also be very high. The peculiarities of this culture should also include the fact that the marsh marigold is able to endure drying out even in the summer months. It is noteworthy that in the month of August the leaves of this plant will die off. Among other things, this plant can grow in the shade of deciduous trees, however, during the entire dormant period, the marsh marigold should be provided with sunlight.

Reproduction of this plant can occur by means of seeds and cuttings, as well as by dividing the bush. The peculiarities of seed reproduction include the fact that the seeds will lose their germination rather quickly. For this reason, the seeds of marsh marigold should be sown either immediately or already before winter. Seedlings of marsh marigold will bloom in about the third or seventh year.
