The appearance and service life of street buildings depends on the surface. The assortment of facade paints is huge, we will review the protective materials, and talk about the selection rules

Features of facade paints

The external surfaces of buildings are not protected from the sun, rain, the cladding is exposed to unfavorable factors. To extend the service life, paint is used as a protective coating. Facade paint must be resistant to have and perform decorative functions.

The composition of the materials depends on the purpose: application to wood, brick, foam block, plaster, concrete. An important factor affecting the quality of work and durability is the ability of adhesion to the surface (adhesion) and moisture resistance.

They do not always paint a house to change color, more often to create a protective layer. Materials "working" on the street must have special properties:

• frost resistance;

• lack of moisture absorption;

• biosecurity;

• blocking the deformation / cracking process;

• the presence of a UV filter;

• antiseptic properties;

• immunity to extreme temperature fluctuations.

Facade paint contributes to the preservation of the structure, gives a decorative look to buildings. You can choose transparent or tinted types. Acrylic is considered the most suitable.

Types of paints

All paints and varnishes for outdoor use are classified into several groups, including textured, rubber, alkyd, silicate, latex, mineral, acrylic, etc. They differ in properties and composition.

Acrylic

The components of acrylic paints include polymers, organic resins, emulsion fillers made on a water or solvent basis. After application, a waterproof elastic film forms. It does not crack from temperature extremes, is resistant to sun exposure, and does not fade. Recommended for painting the facades of houses from a blockhouse, lining, timber. Solvent-based acrylic paints (Acryl-Lux) can be used at sub-zero temperatures.

Oil

Oil paints help to radically change the color of the facade. They are made on the basis of drying oil, are inexpensive, but also not durable. When applied, roughness and surface imperfections are hidden, the wood structure is completely closed, the color changes. Remains unchanged on the tree for 3-5 years.

Alkyd

The advantages of alkyd paints are gloss, high resistance to moisture, UV, temperature extremes. The main components are polymers and alkyd resins, which affect the decorative effect of the coating.

The coating does not penetrate the wood and endures mechanical stress. The film formed on the surface does not protect the wood very well, and may peel off over time. The treated surface, without additional varnish coating, often begins to peel off and crack. Service life 5 years. Choose a paint with a longer drying time, this composition is more durable.

Silicone

Silicone resin based paint, expensive but durable (lasts 20-25 years). It is considered ideal for regions with high humidity, does not crack, does not fade, and is resistant to abrasion (you can paint the floor). A big plus is the ease of application - no impregnation, no septic tanks, suitable for indoor / outdoor use.

Silicate

Thanks to modern technologies, additives and fillers, silicate paints are produced. They are available in two types: silicate-acrylic and silicate-silicone. They have the highest adhesion, adhere to the base, do not change color, and are resistant to the development of mold. They work ideally with concrete, plaster (cement, lime), brick. Durability 15-20 years.

Latex

High performance, resistance to fading, moisture. They mask small cracks, irregularities, and withstand harsh climatic conditions. They do not absorb dirt / dust, they serve on average 10-12 years.

Wood paint

The facade of a wooden house needs to be painted. Without a protective coating, the walls of the house in a year will lose their original appearance, then the processes of deformation, decay, damage by insects and fungi will begin.

Our goal is to buy facade paint that will last longer, create decorative effects, protect well and reduce the frequency of work. The coating will be functional, it will last longer if you select the type of paint according to its characteristics.
