Bright fragrant roses by their very appearance are able to transform any area. But which variety should you choose? Indeed, today in the world there are more than three hundred types of roses and about 10 thousand varieties. Let's take a closer look at their classification, features and advantages
TEA ROSES. These plants migrated to our area from China. In their homeland, they are from 40 cm to several meters high. Well, in our area in the open ground, it is problematic to grow them, since they have poor cold resistance and cannot withstand the conditions of a harsh winter. These flowers are more suitable for the southern coast of Crimea or the climate of the Caucasus. But their beautiful double flowers, collected in several pieces on a stalk, with a characteristic aroma reminiscent of tea, will decorate the interior of the house, as they are well suited for winter forcing and keeping indoors.
REPAIR ROSES - an excellent cross between tea and Bengal roses. They inherited from tea houses the ability to bloom again. Bengali gave them the property of resistance to low temperatures. These bushes are up to 1.5 cm high. They have excellent flowers with a diameter of more than 10 cm. In addition to decorating the garden with a bright terry look, they are also attractive because they fill the air with a pleasant strong aroma. Exuberant flowering occurs twice a year. The first time it starts around the end of June. The second time the buds bloom again in the fall and stay on the bushes until hard frosts. Flowers need shelter for the winter.
TEA HYBRID ROSES are a little younger than their fellow tribesmen. Their appearance was made possible by crossing the remontant variety with the tea house. Currently, this group is considered one of the most suitable for home gardening. This popular variety includes hundreds of varieties. They are distinguished by giant flowers up to 15 cm in diameter, beautiful shape, and a wide range of petal colors. If you plant such in the country, you can admire their flowering almost continuously from the second half of summer until the arrival of stable frosts. Most often they are grown in bush form. You can also achieve the original standard shape. But there are climbing varieties. However, it should be borne in mind that in regions with a harsh climate, it will be very difficult for vigorous climbing perennials to take root. In addition, for this regal beauty, the gardener will have to put up with other whims in caring for a perennial: they have low resistance to diseases and damage by pests, and they are also sensitive to frost and dampness. For the winter, hybrid tea roses need shelter. And so that with the arrival of the cold season not to suffer with the device of caps for each individual bush, it is better to plant your bushes side by side, in groups. In addition, this makes the rose garden more spectacular. It is very convenient to place them in a row, so that before the arrival of winter, install arcs over them with a solid tunnel and wrap them with one sheet of covering material.
PLAID ROSES got their name from the original liana-like shape. Their peculiarity lies in the strong growth of climbing shoots, the length of which is several meters. The flowers do not differ in their large size and special aroma. They bloom once a season, but for a long time. The diameter of the flowers is approximately 3 cm. In addition to other care measures, having grown such a beauty, you need to take care of the support or think about it in advance, breaking a rose garden near fences, alcoves or gazebos. There are individual varieties with large buds that, when in bloom, are about 10 cm in diameter. These are the so-called semi-twisted forms. Among the diseases that are dangerous for these roses are shoot burns.
POLYANTHE ROSES belong to low-growing plants. This variety is bred by crossing climbing flowers with tea and remontant flowers. Their straight stems form compact bushes up to 50 cm high. Plants are abundantly covered with small flowers, like climbing varieties. There is no aroma. They show greater resistance to bad weather compared to hybrid tea. However, they are also worth hiding under cover for the winter.
FLORIBUNDA will surprise you with the richness of the color of the petals. Along with the usual pink and coral shades, this variety stands out with orange, as well as purple and lilac tones that were not previously inherent in these colors. Floribundas bloom profusely and continuously, decorating the garden all summer long. They are cold-resistant and are not afraid of fungal diseases. It is customary to decorate curbs with bushes, but they can also be grown in standard form. Also suitable for indoor floriculture.
