Today agrofibre is at the peak of its popularity. Spunbond creates optimal conditions for garden plants and flowers, ideal for mulching. Let's talk about the characteristics, density, rules for using white, black and colored materials

Varieties of spunbond

Agrofibre has been used for growing plants for about 20 years. This material is better than polyethylene, does not restrict air access, promotes plant growth, and is indispensable in places with cool climates.

Spandbond has a fibrous structure of different density and thickness (thick has a high density), is made from environmentally friendly polymer fiber. Consider the types of spunbond, characteristics and purpose:

• black (density 50-60 g / m2) is intended for mulching;

• white (30-60 g / m2) is used for greenhouses;

• thin white (from 17 to 30 g / m2) - for open / closed ground;

• black and white (50 g / m2) protects the root system from overheating, blocks the growth of weeds.

Also produced is foil-clad spandbond reflecting light, red-yellow, red-white, which protects vegetables and berries from unfavorable weather, black-yellow, repels insects.

Spunbond advantages:

• is not toxic;

• does not form a greenhouse effect;

• retains heat;

• lightweight, durable;

• easy to use;

• protects the soil from erosion, plants from UV;

• does not become moldy, does not rot;

• does not accumulate static electricity;

• resistant to low and high temperatures;

• has an affordable price.

The price for garden spunbond depends on the type of processing, color and density. Sold in rolls, packages / briquettes, by weight, square meters / running meters. For example, a roll of white No. 60 (30 m width 3, 2) in Leroy costs 950 rubles. For use in small areas, usually buy small packages 10 m long, 3, 2 wide; 1, 6 m. The dense material is durable, with careful use it will last 5-8 years.

How to use spunbond

Depending on the density, color, agrofibre is used in different ways. Consider the options that are in demand.

White spunbond

The most popular covering material among gardeners is white sponbond. It reliably keeps plants from negative atmospheric influences. The thin material is used in greenhouses to cover the beds. Thick fiber is more durable, does not suffer from gusts of wind, therefore it is used outdoors. They are covered with mini greenhouses, tunnel beds are arranged, and thermophilic crops are used for winter shelter.

Low density spunbond, with characteristics of 17, 19, 23 g / m2, transmits about 80% of the light, does not interfere with growth. It is weightless and can be laid directly on plants without breaking them. Dense agrofiber is less transparent, neutralizes about 35% of light. But it perfectly retains heat, allows moisture to pass through and reliably protects against insects, birds, microorganisms, rodents, frost. For example: density No. 17 will keep the seedlings up to -3, No. 19 - up to -4, No. 23 - up to -5, No. 60 - up to -10.

White spandbond of high density from 30 g / m2 is used for laying on beds and organizing tunnel, frame greenhouses. Density No. 30 is suitable for arcs rising by 35-40 cm, for tunnels with a height of 50-80 - No. 40. On wind sites, a denser No. 50 is used; 60, they also insulate perennial plants for wintering, protect from ultraviolet radiation. If you need thick material, you can use thin material by stacking it in several layers.

Black spundbond

Produced in high density (50-60 g / sq. M), used for mulching. Black spandbond blocks light and weeds growth. The material is spread on the bed before planting, then cuts are made for holes in which seeds are sown or seedlings are planted.

This option of using a black spandboard eliminates the spread of weeds, improves growth conditions, when watering, water is evenly distributed over the garden, rot and mold are not formed. Berries and fruits growing in such conditions do not have contact with the ground and remain clean.
