Krinum Thai is able to decorate almost any body of water. It is characterized by such an intensive growth that in the shortest possible time it forms a luxurious blanket of bizarre floating leaves on the water surface. In aquariums, this handsome man is often planted near the side and back walls, then it will look much more spectacular. If you plant several bushes at once, the design will become even brighter and more exotic
Getting to know the plant
The bulbs of the Thai krinum, an elegant and graceful representative of the large Amaryllis family, can reach a thickness of seven centimeters. And the length of the juicy green leaves of this plant sometimes reaches two meters. All leaves are ribbon-shaped, strongly twisted, soft to the touch, and gather in rosettes. You can break such leaves only with some effort. The venation of the Thai krinum leaflets is characterized by the absence of clearly distinguishable central veins.
The slender flower arrows of this aquatic inhabitant can grow even up to eighty centimeters in length. Krinum Thai inflorescences are formed of five to ten fragrant flowers. Each flower is connected to the perianth with the help of long straight tubes, and they have six stamens with leaves.
The Thai krinum will bloom exclusively in favorable conditions, which mean a very low water level in conjunction with high temperature and appropriate sunlight - it must certainly go to the fancy aquatic pet in sufficient quantities. And even in this situation, no one has yet been able to obtain seeds for breeding an aquatic beauty in aquarium conditions.
How to grow
For growing flexible and plastic krinum Thai, impressive volumes of aquariums or tropical reservoirs with a water temperature of at least 22 degrees are suitable. In colder water, its growth will slow down noticeably, and it will also begin to shed old leaves.
The soil for planting Thai krinum should be tried to be enriched with numerous nutrients, and its height should be at least eight centimeters. Pebbles or sand are excellent substrates. And the size of the particles of the soil used can be absolutely any. It is extremely important to consider that the strong roots of this plant will need sufficient space for subsequent spread in the soil. When moving to a new soil with all kinds of organic substances, experts advise placing a small lump of clay under the roots of this beautiful aquatic man. It is allowed to add a little peat to the clay.
Equally well, Thai krinum develops in both soft and hard water, while continuous maintenance of the temperature regime in the range from 22 to 27 degrees is encouraged. However, in water with a hardness below four degrees, the stable growth of this handsome man often stops, so it is still better to make a choice in favor of water of medium hardness or in favor of soft water. Well, the level of its acidity is allowed in the range of pH 6, 8 - 8, 0. A quarter of the total volume of water in the aquarium should be replaced with fresh water approximately once a week.
With regard to the intensity of lighting, moderation is required here. And the daylight hours for the luxurious krinum Thai need to try to provide within twelve hours and no less.
Reproduction of this extraordinary pet can be both vegetative and generative. It is mainly propagated by tiny daughter bulbs obtained from mother plants. The first babies usually appear only three to five years after planting the plant.
The completely not capricious Thai krinum adapts quite well to various changes in conditions. At the same time, it is not necessary to add all kinds of minerals to the water, since this wonderful pet has more than enough systematic natural silting of the soil for nutrition.
