The pliable sequin, also known as nitella, is found in a huge number of bodies of water across all continents. Most often it can be seen in Asia, Europe and North America. This amazing algae moves very gracefully in the water column, and in small reservoirs with rather silty soil, it often forms very dense thickets. The flexible lamb develops very well in aquariums, moreover, it is very unpretentious in care

Getting to know the plant

The flexible glitter is a representative of the Charov family and represents vitreous threads entangled with each other and painted in dark green shades. Such filaments are formed from long cells having a cylindrical shape. The stalks of the pliable cuckoo are very strongly branched. This spectacular alga is a rootless plant, and its leaves, located in whorls on elongated stems, are in the form of finger-dissected plates. Each whorl contains from five to seven petioled leaves. And the color of the leaves can vary from dark green shades to light ones.

One of the advantages of flexible lustrous is its ability to accumulate debris deposited on it. Thanks to this property, the water in the aquarium becomes much clearer, as particles suspended in the water settle on this bizarre algae. By the way, it must be washed periodically so that all kinds of aquarium waste does not accumulate on it. However, this should be done as quickly as possible, since the flexible cuckoo does not tolerate a long stay outside the aquatic environment.

Quite a large number of aquarium fish are very eager to feast on this aquatic inhabitant. And in spawning aquariums, the flexible cuckoo, serving as food for juveniles, is also an excellent shelter for spawning fish, as well as an excellent substrate for eggs.

There is an opinion that if you damage the stems of this unpretentious green pet, then it will begin to emit various toxic substances that can destroy nimble fry and tiny eggs.

How to grow

Glitter flexible develops well if you provide it with a temperature regime in the range from twenty to twenty-eight degrees. At higher temperatures, it will grow faster. To a large extent, its favorable development is also facilitated by the aquatic environment characterized by medium hardness, as well as very intense diffused lighting. Twelve-hour daylight hours will be more than enough for this beauty. If the duration is longer, the development of a beautiful plant will become more rapid, but if the light is too long, other unwanted algae will begin to form. So don't forget about that.

The composition of water does not play a primary role for the development of the pliable custard. However, the most optimal water parameters for this algae are considered to be acidity in the range from 6 to 8 and hardness in the range from 5 to 20 degrees.

It is best to plant the flexible lamb in the spring. At the same time, the soil in the aquariums should be rather silty. You can simply press the bushy algae to the bottom with small pebbles.

The propagation of lusters is flexible with the help of seeds or cuttings. And in the summer, it also reproduces with the help of special balls formed on its stems. Female balls are pollinated by male balls, which subsequently disappear along with the parent plants. In fact, female balls are controversies. After pollination, they darken and gradually sink to the bottom, and after a while they begin to germinate. Women's balls are usually colored greenish-yellow, while men's balls are red.

When propagating by cuttings in adult plants, small areas about ten centimeters long are separated. Cut cuttings are sent to float freely.

In order to achieve the best possible results when cultivating a flexible glitter, it is not recommended to replant it.
