Difficulties in installation in a wooden house

A house built of wood is mobile. Deformation occurs constantly, this is especially noticeable when the weather changes, with seasonal phenomena there is a tendency to narrowing and swelling. The iron door must be immovable - minor displacements relative to the monolithic frame lead to blocking of the locks, jamming. Such problems can be avoided if the requirements and installation instructions are correctly followed.

It is better to leave the new house to dry the wood for two years and only then make a solid entrance. And during work, take into account that the shrinkage of the timber and logs lasts 5-7 years. In this case, the gap of the opening is made with an allowance of 8-12 cm. In vertical cavities, a semi-rigid mount and external hinges are used.

Preparing the doorway

The stability of the fastening depends on the quality of the doorway, it must be strong and solid, capable of withstanding the weight of the structure. Along the contour of the passage, create a strong jamb from a thick board or timber. The entire perimeter must be made ideally equal, the performance of the product will depend on this. The work is carried out with a square and a building level, when fastening materials, pay special attention to the tight fit in the corners. The parameters of the opening should be as follows: exceed the width of the door frame by 4-6 cm (tolerance of 2.3 cm on each side). The height for a "damp" house is 8-12 cm, for an established one - 5-6 cm.

Choosing a door

Remember that for a wooden house you need to buy a solid, high-quality door, with a metal sheet thickness of more than 3 mm.

Frame check

The frame should not have distortions, breaks in the welded seams. Stiffness is determined by opening and closing the door. To check, place the structure in different ways, shifting the fulcrum (tilt back and forth, middle, right-left corner). In any position, the door should not deform the hinges and frame, should not shift under its own weight - in any position it should always be easy to open not only with a handle, but also with a lock. If you do not have the opportunity to conduct such a test or you are offered to buy a door removed from the frame - refuse such a product.

Mounting points

A secure fit depends on the presence of mounting holes on all four sides of the frame. Choose the model where there are at least two fasteners in each wall of the frame, it is better if these holes are oval in shape, located along the canvas. In this case, you do not have to saw the bolt holes yourself, and it will be easier to align during installation by sliding in the right direction.

Insulation

The street door should not let the cold through. Check before purchasing whether there is insulation inside, what is the layer and composition. The clamping parts must have seals in the form of rubber gaskets. The opening sash must fit snugly during closing from all sides.

Steel door installation

The optimal fastening for an iron frame is self-tapping screws, the head of which should have edges for a wrench. It is important to select the correct size, in accordance with the mounting holes, to achieve a tight connection.

To make it easier to work - remove the door leaf from the hinges. We insert the empty box into the wall opening, align it along the plane and mark the places of the fasteners. We take a drill with a smaller diameter than a self-tapping screw (5 mm), drill holes in a wooden block. You need to start fastening from the upper bar, after the frame is suspended, put the door on the hinges and, holding the lower part, level it again and check the opening function. Correct installation guarantees free movement, and in the open state, its immobility.

A well-exposed plane can be fixed from the vertical ends. Immediately, the screws do not need to be tightened tightly - we leave gaps of half a centimeter. This makes it possible to check the planes again and carry out the necessary alignment before final fixing. We carry out a final check on the opening and operation of the locks and handles, the tongue must exactly fit into the groove on the jamb. Now we take a socket wrench and embed the screws in the secret. Foam the cracks around the perimeter, put a decorative edging. The door is ready for use and adapted to the deformation of the house.
