The functionality of the snow holders

The installation of the elements creates conditions for spontaneous cutting of snow layers into smaller parts, which reduces the throughput and kinetic energy. Types of snow holders
On the roofs of country houses, dissecting types of structures are most often used.
Lamellar - the cheapest option, ideal for lightweight structures. These are products made of steel sheets, coated with a polymer and anti-corrosion coating. The ease of installation is noted, the ability to withstand heavy loads.
Tubular ones provide metered snow discharge. They represent pipe sections inserted into support brackets, with an indent of half a meter. Rows are usually observed in 2-3 stages. Sold in sets with fasteners and 3 meter pipes (round, oval). The quantity is chosen depending on the area of the slope and the slope. Most often they are used on long slopes, sharp slopes, on a seam roof made of metal tiles, profiled sheets.
Lattice stoppers represent a snow barrier. Installed on special supports at the edge of the roof. They are cut into smaller pieces than tubular structures during installation.
Corner ones are made of thin steel (0.5-0.7 mm) coated, have good functionality, and successfully complement the design of the roof. Do not withstand heavy loads, designed for small pitched areas. They are mounted in a staggered or cross pattern.
Drag towers are designed to complement systems and are considered active snowstopers. They work well on large areas, do not make the structure heavier.
Installation of snow guards on a metal roof
For seam roofs, the tubular system is the most effective. The assembled structure is a pair of pipes installed in parallel, on brackets with holes of the corresponding diameter. Fastening is carried out across the ramp. The standard footage of each pipe is 3 meters, the installation step depends on the slope and length of the plane, usually 60; 90; 120 cm and, accordingly, 3-4 brackets are required for each section. If the pipe diameter is 2.5-3.2 cm, then the thickness of the fastening material is maintained within 2-2.5 mm (steel, aluminum, hot-dip galvanized alloy). It is important to remember that when the pitch between the fasteners is reduced, the load increases significantly.
Installation is carried out according to the instructions using weather-resistant rubber gaskets, all elements are fastened with bolts and plates designed for seam roofing. If the length of the slope exceeds 10 m, the pipes should be installed in two rows. The installation is carried out, stepping back from the edge of the profile 12 cm. The bracket is mounted to the lathing with a dowel through the rebate panel using a rubber seal. It is forbidden to fasten to one sheet without grabbing the crate.
Installation of snow guards on a soft roof
The properties of flexible shingles do not contribute to sliding, since there is a granular roughness on the surface, therefore, a natural obstacle to avalanche snow is created. On a soft roof, it is important to use snow stoppers or point elements of snow holders, for example, "dovetail".
The installation takes place according to the parallels of the coating material. It is better to put the stoppers directly during the installation of the covering material and immediately cover the attachment points with the next covering sheet. If work is carried out on a finished roof, then rubber sealing strips are used to prevent leaks.
For bituminous shingles, dovetail elements are most often bought, which are placed according to the "teeth" system, observing a staggered step of 2-3 rows. This is quite enough to hold the formation and further crush it. Installation is quick and easy, since there is a solid base under the covering and there is no need to construct additional crate.
