Growing
From lavender, they arrange borders for garden paths, use it to create hedges. It is better to plant bushes in the fall, but you can also in March. Pruning of hedges for the purpose of shortening them is carried out at the end of winter, and to stimulate new branching of the hedge or border, shoots are pruned as they fade.
The soil is prepared for planting in advance, making it soft and not too wet. Lavender does not like excess moisture, and therefore it only needs watering during prolonged drought.
Lavender gives even lush bloom in well-lit places.
A child of the mountains, lavender tolerates both high and low temperatures equally well.
Reproduction
The easiest way to propagate lavender is cuttings, which are harvested in summer using side shoots.
Cuttings take root in a couple of weeks if, by planting them in a mixture of perlite and peat, keep the container in a protected and very humid place. Rooted cuttings are transplanted into personal cups. The cups are filled with a mixture of sand (30%) and peaty soil, adding mineral fertilizer.
When purchasing lavender in garden stores, check its development. Plants usually go on sale after the first transplant.
Diseases and pests
Lavender is affected by phomosis, honeydew, some species of gall midges, and the Chrysomela americana beetle. Pest control methods are traditional.
