Cosmetics in the vegetable garden. Part 3

For those who are not yet tired of absorbing information about the cosmetic abilities of the plants around us, we continue our journey through the summer cottage and the adjacent territory. After all, to maintain the beauty and freshness of the skin is up to everyone, you just need to remember the lessons of ancestors who lived much closer to nature, and therefore knew more about its abilities

White cabbage

Not only is the head of cabbage in the garden a surprisingly decorative and complex phenomenon of nature, but also this head of cabbage contains so many components useful to humans that it cannot do without its healing leaves, including cosmetics for the skin.

An interesting real historical fact that happened exactly 1710 years (305 AD) ago, on the day that is celebrated today as the "Labor Day", that is, May 1. On this significant day, the Roman emperor, Gaius Aurelius Valerius Diocletian, sacrificed power in a powerful state, strengthening and expanding the borders of which he devoted a third of his life, for the sake of growing this delicious vegetable. A talented person performs any task creatively, and therefore his cabbage in the beds gave him no less pride than victory on the battlefields.

We will not enumerate all the useful components of healing leaves, but will dwell on only one, with the name "phytoncides". It is their presence in cabbage that determines the effectiveness of use

leaf gruel when treating external skin problems.

Burns, skin ulcers and purulent wounds (military or domestic) will recede from a person much faster if cabbage leaves are applied to them, turned into gruel, fastened with egg white.

To turn acne-prone oily skin into supple and soft, you should stock up on

sauerkraut … Those who lost their cabbage harvests to slugs, caterpillars and other lovers of feasting at someone else's expense should not despair. After all, mountains of cabbage will soon appear on the shelves of shops and autumn fairs at very affordable prices. The main thing is not to miss the moment.

Sauerkraut is tasty, good for the stomach and intestines; the tartronic (or oxymalonic) acid contained in it helps not to accumulate fat folds on the body, and a thick layer of sauerkraut in the form of a 30-minute mask removes fat from the skin of the face, if you remember to do the procedure only once a week. To prevent cabbage from falling off your face, you should use the help of a napkin. After the end of the magic action, the face should be lubricated with cream.

Healing for oily skin is

cabbage juicewhich can be taken orally or used to rub the skin.

Raw potatoes

For our meals, we subject the potatoes to heat treatment, so that it is more pleasant to eat them in the company with sauerkraut or crispy pickles. But for medicinal purposes, you need raw potatoes, as nature gave birth to.

You can, of course, apply

potato wedges to sore skin areas, but it will be much more effective if thoroughly washed tubers are peeled and turned into

potato gruel using a regular kitchen grater.

We spread the prepared medicine with a layer of a centimeter thickness on a gauze napkin (multilayer), apply it to the inflamed skin area and bandage it. After a couple of hours, we change the healing filling to a fresh one, and so on several times a day. At night, lubricate the sore spot with disinfectant ointment.

Such compresses muffle the feeling of burning, itching, pain during sunburn of the skin (30-minute compress), acute inflammation of the skin, eczema, bursting calluses.
