How to recognize raspberry diseases?

Everyone loves to feast on fragrant raspberries. It's just that growing a rich harvest is sometimes quite troublesome - either pests attack, or diseases. Of course, all this is very unpleasant, but in most cases it is still possible to cope with malicious misfortunes. To cope with ailments affecting berry plantings, it is important to have an idea of how they manifest themselves on a beautiful raspberry. This will help you not to waste precious time and start the fight on time

Anthracnose

This ailment affects not only raspberry leaves, but also petioles with shoots, and even fruits. On the infected leaves, round and very small specks begin to form, reaching from 1 to 3 mm in diameter. All of them are framed by rather wide purple edges, and their centers are usually grayish in color. If there are a lot of spots, then later they will begin to merge. And in old specks, the affected tissue often falls out.

On the petioles of raspberry, the spots look like miniature merging sores, and on the affected raspberry stems, rather deep sores appear, framed by wide purple edges. In the case of a particularly severe lesion, all the spots gradually merge and begin to become covered with brownish tissues, which, after some time, will cork and instantly crack. And on the tips of fruiting twigs and annual shoots, you can see continuous corking, which in turn leads to their complete withering away. With the onset of autumn and winter, completely affected tissues can be stained in grayish tones.

Rust

Basically, the leaves are affected by rust - the stems suffer from it much less often. And the appearance of the lesions is in direct proportion to the stage of development of the causative agent of the disease and, accordingly, can vary greatly. The very first signs of an unfortunate misfortune can be seen on the upper sides of the leaves - yellowish-orange bumps consisting of mushroom ecias are formed on them. Similar manifestations can be seen on young shoots, on the veins located on the lower sides of the leaves and on the petioles. And after a while, the pustules formed in the spring will be replaced by destructive uredinia, which almost completely cover the lower sides of the leaf surfaces. As for the stem form of rust, it usually appears in the lowest parts of the raspberry stems.

Phylostictosis

This attack can manifest itself on raspberry leaves in different ways. In the first case, large dark brown spots of irregular shape are formed on them, framed by lighter rims and having numerous zones of dark gray color. And in the second case, tiny rounded white specks without any edges are formed on the sheet surfaces.

Septoriasis

On raspberry leaves attacked by white spot, you can see a huge number of brownish rounded specks. After some time, they begin to turn white and acquire characteristic purple rims. And after a while they merge, and their tissues are destroyed and gradually fall out.

Purple spot

This incredibly harmful disease spares neither buds nor raspberry stalks. And sometimes it gets to the twigs with leaves. On the stalks of raspberries, on young shoots in particular, rather vague purple specks appear, gradually ringing the shoots. Most often, these spots are located just below the areas where the kidneys are located. A little later, they begin to turn brown, and their centers brighten. In addition, rather large black pycnidia begin to develop on the spots.
