The Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), passing the words of the Almighty to the scribe (since he himself did not know the letter), did not forget to describe the Garden of Eden. Among the many fragrant and magnificent plants, he mentioned the Pomegranate tree, the fruits of which will be enjoyed by the lucky ones chosen by Allah to live in paradise after the hardships of earthly life. The rest must have time to feast on juicy berries on Earth
Ancient city of Carthage
Founded at the beginning of the 9th century BC on the territory of modern Tunisia, the city of Carthage for five and a half centuries was famous for the business acumen of its inhabitants, winning victories over others, including over the mighty Ancient Rome. But in the middle of the II century BC, Rome got tired of a successful neighbor, and the Third (before that there were two more wars in which Rome remained the loser) Punic War ended with the complete destruction of the city.
The fire, first set up by the patriots of the city, was continued by the Roman warriors, and blazed for two and a half weeks, leaving heaps of smoking ruins from the glorious and powerful city. But no war can completely erase the past from the memory of people. There are legends about the valor of people, about their peaceful creative life and fragments of the fruits of creation.
One such “fruit” that preserves the memory of Carthage is the Pomegranate tree and its amazing fruits, which the Romans called the Punic (Carthage) apple.
Fertility symbol
The fruit of the pomegranate tree is so generously filled with juicy sweet and sour drupes that it was the personification of fertility among the ancient Egyptians. This was told by the Egyptian pyramids, in which the researchers of antiquity found images of a pomegranate. There is still heated debate about the age of the pyramids and the method of their construction. Therefore, it is difficult to say how long ago a person became acquainted with vitamin pomegranate.
It is possible that a person got acquainted with the fruits while still sinless, living in the Garden of Eden, in which such trees seem to grow. After all, the Prophet Mohammed, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, could not simply come up with this, retelling his conversations with the Creator of everything on Earth. In the 7th century AD, this was written in black and white in the Qur'an in ornate Arabic letters, which should be read from right to left.
Bright bloom
In the spring (in March), after the small leaves, bright red single flowers begin to bloom on the thin branches of the Pomegranate tree. You walk by the tree every day, suddenly one day you notice a red light among the rare foliage.
Every day more and more lights flare up among the growing and gaining strength and size of the leaves.
After pollination, the flower slowly turns into a pretty ball, which is in no hurry to grow, absorbing the sap of the tree so that each drupe is filled with a life-giving elixir. In August-September, the fruits grow up to 400-700 grams in weight, bending thin and strong branches to the ground with their weight.
A few words about the unpretentious nature of the tree. It grows well on sandy soil, responding with a good harvest to regular watering.
Pomegranate juice
Today, pomegranates and pomegranate juice are no longer exotic. They can be found all year round on the shelves of Russian supermarkets, the number of which is growing by leaps and bounds.
All the valuable components of the transparent red berries are transferred to the juice. Due to sugars, which make up 20 percent of the total mass, the juice turns out to be sweet, and due to citric acid, the content of which reaches 8 percent, the juice acquires its acidic component. Together with a number of vitamins contained in berries, they give a drink that cannot be confused with any other.
Pomegranate juice will help to restore strength in case of physical fatigue, a weakened body by a disease, support a naughty nervous system, and lift the spirit in a difficult moment of life.
