Over the past few years, zucchini has gained immense popularity, winning the love and trust of experienced and novice vegetable growers. This is not surprising, because these vegetables contain a large amount of vitamins and amino acids. In addition, even very young children can make mashed potatoes from this product

Seedlings and seeds

Many summer residents know that there is a special way to speed up the cultivation of zucchini. To do this, you need to use a simple trick in the form of warming up the planting material before germination begins. As a result, seedlings will begin to appear more actively, and the yield will eventually be several times larger. It is great if it is possible to leave a package of seeds for one night on the included battery for heating.

After heating is carried out, the planting material should be soaked in warm and clean water. The time the seeds stay there depends on how quickly they swell. When this happens, the planting material should be placed in a damp cloth, where it should be laid out in several layers. But you should not use too thin matter (for example, gauze) due to the fact that the roots are confused in them.

In conditions of moderate temperatures in the form of twenty or a little more degrees, after four days the zucchini sprouts will reach several centimeters in length. Therefore, it is at this time that the zucchini should be planted in open beds. It is not worth waiting for a long time, since the roots grow quickly, and, reaching a certain length, they can begin to intertwine with each other. As a result, it will be very difficult to separate the seeds from each other.

What can you do to get a good harvest of zucchini?

If a summer resident or vegetable grower is going to use zucchini for drying, harvesting and freezing, then he will need a large number of such fruits. Technically, these vegetables are considered ripe after forty days have elapsed since germination. At the same time, if it is important for the gardener that the zucchini harvest is fresh for a long time, then you will have to wait a little with its collection. Only fruits that are on the street for a long time will acquire a hard surface, the desired color and a pleasant aroma.

It is possible to understand that the zucchini is fully ripe only after three months from the formation of the first sprouts. Usually this time falls on the first days of September. It is worth remembering that during this entire period of time, marrow should be "on the vine" all the time of cultivation until the very harvest. Subject to all the rules and features of growing a squash culture, it will be possible to store the fruits in a cool room even until the spring period. It is interesting that during this time they will not lose their external and taste properties.

At the very beginning of the season, when the vegetable crop begins to prepare for the flowering phase, minting, that is, pinching of the growing point, should be carried out. This will help to provide favorable conditions for the formation of a large number of flowers on the zucchini bush. Accordingly, there will be a lot of fruits at the time of harvest. After flowering is over, the remaining shoots without ovaries formed on them must be removed from the beds altogether. This is necessary so that all the nutrient components supplied to the plant are directed to the development of leaves and fruits of the vegetable crop. Also, you should not leave on the site and the so-called "empty" lashes.

At the end of the summer season, the fruits of the zucchini take on an impressive size. Also at this moment they acquire the desired color for a certain variety. Therefore, in a similar period, the summer resident should start cutting off excess leaves that block the access of sunlight to the fruits. Under themselves, not yet ripe, vegetables, it is necessary to place any dry material, which can be the bark of any tree or the simplest cardboard. Thus, the vegetable grower will create protection for the zucchini from waterlogging and rotting in the lower part. In addition, the risk of pest damage to vegetables will be reduced.

It is imperative to cut off the zucchini fruits in a timely manner, since stale or unripe vegetables have a different taste and appearance, and their shelf life is significantly reduced. In order to understand whether a vegetable is prepared for cutting, you need to knock on it with your hand. Dull sounds signal that the culture has already matured. You also need to pay attention to the surface of the skin of the fruit. It should have a dense and smooth texture.
