Straight. Mostly designed to only cut across the grain. They are well sharpened on both sides so that the saw can cut smoothly in both directions.

A characteristic feature of the so-called "wolf's tooth" is that for every four ordinary teeth there is an undiluted double, designed to remove the sawdust accumulating in the cuts. And the ends of these teeth are hardened by induction current.

Dagger type. They are also intended for bow saws, and to reduce the vibration of the blade, they are usually grouped in three pieces at once. The tips are also hardened to make the canvas last longer. Saws with such teeth can be used for cross-cutting fairly damp wood, and for the necessary processing of dry wood.

Universal. Widely known and very common teeth, designed for sawing both along the grain and across the grain. Each prong tilts slightly forward and is sharply sharpened on both edges. They should be cut with a movement away from you.

Chisel teeth. They are rarely used and only for some types of carpentry work. Their tips are somewhat reminiscent of tiny chisels, but both the front and back combs are flat.

The teeth of almost any saw are set alternately in different directions. This feature allows you to make a cut wider and easily remove sawdust stuffed into it. And the shape of the teeth should be selected based on the material for cutting, as well as the type of work.

Using a saw with fine teeth, one cannot help but notice that the space between them is soon filled with small sawdust, and the ability of the teeth to grip wood decreases. And the saws equipped with large teeth practically do not clog. To cut beams and logs, choose a long saw with large teeth (there should be from five to seven of those for one inch). And to make precise cuts, saws with small teeth are purchased (for one inch - from 8 to 14 pieces). As for the length of the web, in this case it is not decisive.

When choosing a saw and a handle, one cannot be ignored - modern saws are often equipped with plastic handles, while wooden ones can be found much less often. The surface of the handle should be fairly smooth, but not slip, and there should be no casting residues on the handle itself. And, of course, don't forget about convenience.
