The foundation of a country house - such a building differs in many ways. However, with one hundred percent accuracy, we can say that the success of the entire building as a whole will depend on the quality and strength of the foundation.

Actually, the main division of foundations will be the presence of three types: strip, columnar and solid concrete foundation. Moreover, the latter type is often called a monolithic slab. Of course, a combination of these types of foundation is also quite acceptable. As for how to determine the most suitable type for each specific case, then here you should pay maximum attention to the quality of the soil and the weight of the future building.

Strip foundation

The strip foundation is made of monolithic concrete. In principle, this option is permissible for any suburban buildings, regardless of the features of their designs. In addition, it is the strip foundation that is most common among the vast majority of summer residents. The main advantages of such a foundation are its strength and reliability.

To build a strip foundation, first of all, you need to dig trenches around the perimeter. Actually, the depth will be determined taking into account the mass of the entire building and the very composition of the soil. Such a foundation would be ideal for wooden houses and small stone houses. As for the depth of this type of foundation, this value should be approximately 50-70 centimeters.

Foundation trenches are dug very deep when the groundwater is close to the surface. Such a foundation will be called a buried strip foundation. Actually, the depth of this option should be at least ten centimeters below the depth of soil freezing. The depth of soil freezing can be found in the so-called climatic maps of each region, which are easy to find on the Internet. If the soils in this area are also loose, then the base of the foundation must be provided with an extension. The thickness will depend on the planned thickness of the walls of your future building, approximately the thickness of the foundation should be at least ten centimeters larger.

Column foundation

A columnar foundation can be called a more economical option. Such a foundation will be the best solution for dense soil and lightweight buildings. Pillars of this type of foundation can be made of brick, concrete or reinforced concrete. These pillars must be located in those places that will be heavily loaded. Such places include the corners of the house and where the walls intersect. The distance between the posts should not be less than one and a half meters, however, other options are also acceptable. Such pillars will be connected to each other with the help of beams, and both the basement and the walls themselves will subsequently be erected on them.

Pile foundations can be called the most common option for columnar products. among the advantages of such foundations are reduced material consumption and a decrease in the amount of earthwork. As for the piles themselves, they can be wooden, steel, and, of course, combined.

Solid concrete foundation

A solid concrete foundation or a monolithic slab is used in cases where the basement soil is weak and heterogeneous. Actually, this version of the foundation also helps in creating protection against water in the basements. This option will be optimal for wet soils, where the groundwater is high enough. In addition, the monolithic foundation will have a very high strength. Nevertheless, this option for building a foundation is one of the most expensive. It is worth stopping at the choice of a solid concrete foundation if reservoirs are located near your site.
