Child safety on the street: 8 tips

All parents think about the safety of the child when he is alone on the street. First of all, a lot depends on the child himself: he must have responsibility from an early age. It is the responsibility of the parents to teach him how to behave in different situations on the street

One of the top tips for keeping your child safe is to build a relationship of trust. To do this, you need to often communicate with him heart to heart and teach him to share with his parents. This makes it much easier to control and respond in a timely manner to situations happening around him. What is it worth reminding dads and mothers who let their baby go for a walk in the yard?

1. To warn from especially dangerous places

As you walk together, explain to your child that the most dangerous places are basements, hatches, construction sites, attics, and a busy road if there is one near the yard. It is necessary not only to prohibit going there, it is important to explain the reason for the danger of all these places. For example, like this: the hatch can be opened, the child can fall there, it will hurt him and help will not come immediately. Most of childhood injuries occur in open hatches, and, unfortunately, not always everything ends with an injury. Do not rely on utilities, walk around the yard yourself and carefully examine it: there are no open hatches.

2. Remind about traffic rules

From an early age, it is worth introducing the kid to the elementary rules of the road, and most importantly, to demonstrate a good example of behavior on the road both as a pedestrian and as a driver. It is useful for schoolchildren to purchase special reflective stickers so that the driver can see them even at night. Warn the child that you need to be afraid not only of a moving car, but also of a standing one, because it can move when the baby hid behind it, playing hide and seek.

3. Forbid trusting strangers

Despite the categorical nature of the phrase, in our time, unfortunately, it is more than appropriate. Teach your children never to talk to strangers without your presence, and even more so, to accept something from them. It is important not to talk, because if the child says that he will now ask his mother, a stranger can answer him: “You are already big, but you are asking everything from mom and dad” or “Mom has already given permission.” The child should clearly know that if someone takes his hands and tries to lead him somewhere, this is bad and it is necessary to shout and resist as loudly as possible. And it is better not to go far from a safe place and parents.

4. Choose comfortable clothes and shoes for the child

Clothes for the child should not be tight or too tight. You need to dress it strictly according to the weather. Dehydration develops faster from overheating. It should be borne in mind that children are very mobile, and their body quickly overheats. When choosing shoes for walking, pay attention to models without laces, such that would fit snugly on the foot and would not slip.

5. Warn about the dangers in the playground

Playground swings have their pros and cons. Injuries that iron structures can inflict on a child can end in failure. Explain to your child that you cannot come close to the spinning swing, and you need to get off and sit on them carefully, without jumping. Try to make sure that your little one does not play on concrete or asphalt areas. Teach him not to push on slides or ladders. Forbid climbing trees: their branches may not stand up and break. If the kid is fond of hockey, rollerblading, cycling, etc., make sure that his protective equipment meets at least the minimum level of safety - helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and gloves.

6. Talk about fights and conflicts

Many modern films have a bad effect on children, especially when the main character gets hit on the head with a heavy object and nothing happens to him. During a fight, the child can forget and hit the opponent with a heavy object, without thinking about the consequences. Therefore, be sure to tell your child what this behavior can lead to during a fight. Encourage him to never bring the matter to physical assault, but try to solve everything with words. Talk with your baby more often: let him share with his parents and talk about his problems, including conflicts with peers. Having a frank and timely conversation will help you avoid serious trouble.

7. Teach to protect yourself from dogs

The child needs to be explained that it is impossible to wave his hands in front of the dog and touch it during her meal: she may not understand and attack. If the baby is in such a situation, advise him how to behave. He should not run away and turn his back to the animal - it is convenient for the dog to attack from behind. Explain that the first step is to protect your head and neck by pressing your chin against your chest and covering it with your bent arms. If there are many stray dogs in the area and there is a great danger of attacking a child, then it is better to purchase special ultrasonic repellents.

8. Warn against harmful plants

Often, children in the game use various berries and plants, "boil" some herbs and seeds in toy dishes. There are times when the cooked is tasted. It is important to educate children about the fact that grass can be harmful and deadly. You never know what grows in yards, and even in such an unstable environmental situation!
