The New Year is behind us, but we have a traditional, purely Slavic, Old New Year ahead, that is, a new year in the old style. And although we celebrate it a little less splendidly than the classic New Year, but still on January 13 in the evening mummers walk the streets, in houses there are festive dinners and obligatory "fortune-telling" dumplings. And many, tired of the city's worries and troubles, go to the dacha with their children and celebrate the holiday there. But the trouble is, if in a house-apartment you can put on any costume on a child, then on the street with costumes is difficult

We have a private house and children, just like adults, go outside on New Year's Eve. And they want to be in suits. For a long time I pondered, nurtured ideas, because it’s just with Santa Claus and Snegurochka - they have fur coats, hats and, of course, they don’t care about a cold winter night. And what to do with the rest of the heroes of fairy tales?

So, in order to make simple costumes of animals, it is enough to put on headbands with ears over the cap. It is very easy to make them. We take the simplest rim, I had this:

From a fabric of a suitable color, cut a strip about 2 cm wide and a length equal to the length of the rim, we sew the rim with it. Then we cut out the ears of the animal we need (fox, cat, hare, mouse), cut out the middle of the ears from pink felt (or any other fabric), and a blank from cardboard, a couple of mm less fabric blanks. We sew the ears, insert the cardboard inside (this is done so that the ears keep their shape) and attach the ears to the previously trimmed rim (I glued the crystal with glue). So, I will show what happens with the example of ears for a mouse:

The ears are ready, now we need to buy face painting, it is inexpensive, and we need mostly black color. Headbands with ears for our street New Year's costumes are ready, it remains shortly before the start of the holiday to paint noses and antennae (in black) for children with face painting, let the paint dry well, then dress in regular clothes, and fix headbands with ears over the hats. If there is time before the holiday, then the headbands can be supplemented with ponytails, but this is at your discretion.

For younger children, you can sew fur overalls and fur hats with ears. For a fox, for example, for a child up to 110 cm tall, you will need a 1x1.5 meter cut of orange fur, for a hare - white, for a mouse - gray, and so on. The jumpsuit pattern can be found in any sewing magazine (Burda, Diana, Ottobre). You can skip the lining, just sew a jumpsuit, add a ponytail to it. If the jumpsuit is with a hood, then the ears can be attached to it. As an example, I will show a jumpsuit made of stretch velor, it is easy to sew, it looks good:

You can also use knitted hats for costumes. In principle, it is not even necessary to knit on your own, you can buy a ready-made hat of the desired color. Of course, a self-knitted hat will look better, since both the hat itself and the ears will be "uniform", that is, made of the same material. As an example, I want to give just such a hat (such a hat can be knitted not only for kids, but also for adolescents):

If you have a desire to celebrate the New Year in the fresh air (in the country, in the yard, in the forest), but there is no time at all to prepare costumes, then fashionable animal hats will come to the rescue. You can find this miracle in almost any store. The only negative: despite the fact that they are made of faux fur, these hats are not cheap, more than 1,500 rubles.
