Fuchsia bolivian (lat. Fuchsia boliviana) - a flowering plant that is a member of the Cyprus family.
Description
Fuchsia Bolivia is an amazingly beautiful evergreen shrub equipped with ovoid elliptical leaves and luxurious dark red flowers. The height of such fuchsia can reach one meter, the length of its leaves ranges from ten to fifteen centimeters, and their width reaches about six centimeters. All leaves in this variety of fuchsia are slightly pointed and endowed with serrated edges. And its wood has an incredibly noble shade.
Graceful flowers of Bolivian fuchsia are collected in bizarre bunches, while all flowers are attached to fairly long peduncles, the length of which can sometimes reach thirty centimeters. And the flowers are also collected in branched apical brushes. All of them are large enough and boast an amazing dark red color. The length of the corolla tubes reaches an average of six centimeters, the length of the sepals' limbs is two centimeters, and the average length of the petals varies from 1 to 1, 2 cm. As a rule, the abundant flowering of this plant occurs from the beginning of March to the end of April.
Where grows
Most often, Bolivian fuchsia can be seen high in the mountains in Bolivia and Ecuador, as well as Argentina and Guatemala.
The Bolivian fuchsia is grown quite actively in indoor conditions - this highly decorative plant fits perfectly into the interior. And among the Incas, this type of fuchsia was generally considered sacred - this was due to the ability of its berries to have a narcotic effect (the Inca tribes grew such fuchsia for ritual purposes).
Growing and caring
Bolivian fuchsia seeds are usually sown in March or April, and it is advisable to select not very nutritious soil mixtures for sowing them. These soil mixtures must have good permeability to air and water, in addition, their surfaces must under no circumstances be covered with crusts. And since the seeds of Bolivian fuchsia are quite small, it is first recommended to mix them with a small amount of sand, and only then they are scattered over the surface of a previously prepared substrate, after which they are covered with a thin layer of earth. Watering of hatching seedlings is carried out through the pallet. Ideally, you should cover the container with seeds with a plastic bag or glass, and then put it in a place where diffused, but at the same time, bright enough light falls.
The most optimal temperature range for seed germination is considered to be in the range from fifteen to eighteen degrees. As a rule, the first shoots appear after three to four weeks. And as soon as the first true leaves appear on the tiny seedlings, they immediately begin to dive.
Bolivian fuchsia will feel best in warm enough rooms, since it does not welcome low temperatures. She is quite hygrophilous and very photophilous. In summer, it should be watered abundantly, and in winter, it is quite acceptable to reduce the number of waterings. Such an additional procedure as spraying will not interfere with this plant. In addition, it is systematically necessary to trim and pinch it - these measures perfectly help not only to give the beautiful fuchsia an attractive shape, but also to make its flowering even more abundant.
Stuffiness, drafts or strong winds affect Bolivian fuchsia not in the best way, so they must be avoided in every possible way. Only in this case, with proper care, a beautiful plant will delight with its wonderful flowering.
