Description of the mountaineer

The mountaineer is a perennial herb, the height of which can reach about one hundred and twenty centimeters. The stem of this plant is endowed with short bare or hairy branches. The leaves of this plant can be from ovate-lanceolate to elongated-lanceolate, their length will be about five to thirteen centimeters, and the width will be about one to five centimeters. Such leaves are pointed, at the base they will be wedge-shaped, naked or pubescent, while the bell is not endowed with cilia. The inflorescence of the mountaineer is a dense leafless panicle, and the length of the perianth will be about three to three and a half millimeters, while with fruits such a perianth can reach about five centimeters in length. By color, the perianth of the mountaineer will be whitish. This plant has eight stamens, and the length of the fruits will be about three and a half to four millimeters, such fruits will most often protrude from the perianth.

Flowering and fruiting of this plant occurs in the period from July to August. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found in the Crimea, as well as on the territory of the European part of Russia, Central Asia, Western and Eastern Siberia, and besides this, also in the west of the Amur region in the Far East. For growth, this plant prefers forest edges and forb meadows.

Description of the medicinal properties of the mountaineer

The mountaineer is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the grass, roots and rhizomes of this plant. The roots and rhizomes of this plant contain catechins, tannins, flavonoids, leukocyanidin, pyrogallol and phloroglucinol phenols, as well as the following phenol carboxylic acids and their derivatives: protocatechol, gallic and gallic acid derivatives, and in addition, epicatechin, gallocatechin, 1-epicatechin …

The aerial part of this plant contains essential oil, coffee and gallic phenol carboxylic acids, as well as the following flavonoids: rutin, myricetin glycosides, kaempferol, quercetin, avicularin, myricetin and hyperin. Alkaloids, tannins and the following flavonoids are found in the stems of the mountaineer mountaineer: quercetin and kaempferol. The leaves of this plant contain organic oxalic acid, vitamin C, carotene, alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, cyanidin, flavone glycosides, as well as the following flavonoids: quercetin and kaempferol. In the inflorescences of the mountaineer, there are such flavonoids: myricetin, quercetin and kaempferol, while the flowers will contain the same flavonoids, vitamin C and tannins.

A decoction and infusion of the roots and rhizomes of this plant is used as an astringent for diarrhea and dysentery, as well as for enterocolitis, gastric ulcer, diseases of the nervous system, hypertension, duodenal disease and atherosclerosis. The infusion of this plant is endowed with a tonic and diuretic effect. It is noteworthy that the crushed roots of this plant are recommended to be applied to tumors. A decoction of the rhizomes of this plant is recommended for rinsing with stomatitis, gingivitis, and also for the treatment of bleeding ulcers as both lotions and rinses. In addition, a decoction of the herb of this plant is also used as an antiscorbutic and as an astringent, and is also effective in tuberculosis, scrofula, venereal diseases, leucorrhoea and cough.
