Most gardeners tend to use organic fertilizers: compost, manure, humus. Chicken manure is always in high demand. Let's talk about its advantages and subtleties of use in relation to different cultures
What is bird droppings valued for?
The uniqueness of poultry manure lies in its composition: nitrogen is 1.5-1.9%, if we consider the mullein, then there is only 0.5%. Phosphorus is presented in a highly soluble, accessible form (phosphatites, nucleoproteins), moreover, it is three times more than horse, sheep, and cow dung.
In comparison with other natural fertilizers, chicken manure has a richer composition. Exceeds nitrogen, magnesium, phosphoric acid, lime, potassium in concentration. And there is also a spectrum of trace elements: boron, cobalt, magnesium, zinc, copper, etc. Unlike manure, soil oversaturation with salts does not create an effect and does not promote oxidation.
Most gardeners tend to use organic fertilizers: compost, manure, humus. Chicken manure is always in high demand. Let's talk about its advantages and subtleties of use in relation to different cultures.
Due to its composition, poultry manure is extremely useful for many crops, especially for cabbage, strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, grapes, etc. For each type of plant it is applied in certain proportions, depending on the need. It makes it possible to get high yields without nitrates, for this you need to correctly apply, observing the dosage rates and certain schemes.
Advantages of "chicken" fertilizer
• provides balanced nutrition;
• enhances photosynthesis, increases productivity up to 40%;
• accelerates maturation (10-15 days);
• does not cake, retains the nutritional value and quality of components for several years;
• when applied to the soil, it lasts for three years;
• improves the structure of the soil, reduces acidity;
• increases the resistance of crops to adverse weather and diseases (root rot, scab, late blight, fusarium);
• if used correctly, “burning” of roots and stems is excluded;
• optimizes drainage from the ground;
• environmentally friendly, economical;
• in dry form, the droppings are devoid of pathogenic flora, there are no helminth eggs, weed seeds.
Preparation and rules for the use of chicken manure
Chicken droppings can be used in many ways as a fertilizer. There are two options: composting and liquid top dressing.
The first way
If you have your own bird, you can use fresh raw materials or store them in compost heaps. For this, there is a certain technique - layer-by-layer stacking alternating with horse / cow manure, peat, straw. This speeds up the process of overheating up to one and a half months. Such humus is applied before plowing in the fall or in the spring before planting. You can insist and then add garden plants, diluting the resulting substance with water 1:20.
Second wa
The product, produced industrially in granules, is already completely ready for use. A high concentration of poultry droppings requires competent and careful application. It is introduced into the soil in small proportions, according to the attached instructions, usually 100 g per sq. meter. For shrubs and trees, the dosage volume is increased to 300 g.
The process of preparing a liquid top dressing consists of infusing a small amount of dry matter in water. At the exit, a solution with a ratio of 1:50 with water should be obtained, but depending on the purpose, it is adjusted to 1: 100. The composition is prepared in two stages: a pound of dry matter is soaked for a week in a bucket. Then it is brought to the required concentration (half a liter for a large watering can).
Liquid dressings are used locally, they are effective for green crops, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes. Doses are calculated per plant individually 500 - 1000 ml per bush. For fruits and berries during the growing season - 5-7 liters in the near-stem part. Strawberries are spilled twice a season in the furrows between the rows. In the spring - up to 10 liters per 4 running meters, after fruiting and pruning, the dosage is halved. The watering technique looks like this: the concentrated infusion is poured with a ladle into a large watering can without a nozzle and then only the ground under the plant is watered, trying not to wet the leaves.
Experts recommend applying granulated droppings at the same time as potash fertilizer. If you want to get rid of the unpleasant odor during fermentation, you should add iron vitriol (for a 200-liter barrel - 300 g).
