Summer cottage chores is not only pleasant and inspiring, but also very laborious! So why not ease your lot as a summer resident by adopting a few simple tricks? Do you know, for example, how you can protect galvanized buckets from rust, how to make sure that the blade does not constantly fly off an old ax, or how you can easily and quickly cut cabbage heads off with a shovel? If not, then this material is for you
So that the blade of the old ax does not fly off
An old ax's blade is flying off the ax? No problem! This can always be corrected, and for this it is not at all necessary to constantly knock on the ax handle, trying to plant the blade on it as best as possible. It is enough just to lower the ax into a container filled with water, making sure that the blade of this tool is completely hidden under water, and leave the ax in this form for about a day. The hatchet will swell from water, and after that the blade will not fly off it for three or even four days, and then this manipulation can be repeated again. By the way, you can do the same with a sledgehammer or a hammer!
Preventing galvanized buckets from rusting
One of the most important representatives of garden tools is a bucket. More precisely, buckets! Neither in the garden nor in the garden can do without these important helpers! And, of course, galvanized buckets invariably turn out to be much more practical than plastic ones, but often such buckets quickly lose their original attractive appearance and gradually rust. But you can protect them from extremely unwanted rust, thereby extending their service life! In order to do this, seasoned summer residents are advised to solder an additional galvanized plate to the bottom of each bucket - such a plate will help strengthen the bottoms of the buckets and protect them from constant contact both with the ground and with a wide variety of wet surfaces. Also, do not use galvanized buckets to carry cement mortar, sand or earth - grains of sand acting as an abrasive will spoil the galvanized coating very quickly! And, of course, it would be an unforgivable oversight to leave such buckets on the street during the period of heavy morning dew, or even more so it rains!
Burning trash in wet weather
The situation when damp branches and foliage do not want to flare up at all, but simply begin to smolder, enveloping the surrounding space with acrid smoke, is not at all such a rarity. To avoid such a nuisance, it will not hurt to stock up on kerosene and the most ordinary, but at the same time thoroughly dried red brick. Dry brick is placed at least for a day in a container with kerosene, and then removed from this container and placed in a bag - this approach will not only protect yourself and your loved ones from the far from the most pleasant smell of kerosene, but also preserve the combustible properties of processed in a similar way bricks. And when you need to burn the trash, it will be more than enough to simply lay this brick in the very center of the trash heap and immediately set it on fire!
Cut the cabbage with a shovel
Particularly enterprising summer residents long ago came up with a very convenient way to harvest cabbage, however, first, to make the appropriate tools, you will have to stock up on the necessary equipment: an old shovel, as well as a file and a hacksaw. In a shovel, in the direction from the edges to the center, a cut is made in the form of a triangle, after which the edges of this cut are sharpened with a file. Such a tool will allow you to easily cut off even the most stubborn and stubborn cabbage heads from the beds!
How to keep the benches dry in any weather?
In this case, it will not hurt to make folding benches that are very convenient in all respects - this can be either an option with a folding backrest, or an option with a folding seat. In the first case, when no one is sitting on the bench, the seat will be securely covered with a folded back, and when it becomes necessary to sit on it, it will be enough to simply fold the back up and fix it on the stop. It will not be difficult to build such a bench using loops. And in the second case, the seat is made of two halves, which are also connected by hinges.
