Vapors, high temperatures, fatty deposits in the kitchen and humidity in the bathroom are aggressive specifics of these spaces. Special finishes are required for walls and ceilings. If you are planning an economical repair, give up the tiles and use plastic panels. This material is practical, reliable, aesthetic, resistant to negative environmental influences and detergents. Plastic panels are indispensable for decorating a country house. We will talk about the rules of selection and installation today

How to choose plastic panels

Popularity and high demand always stimulate manufacturers to saturate the market with a large assortment. Often this abundance confuses us, and we find it difficult to choose. In the store, we see panels of different thickness, size, shade, plastic density. Which ones to choose?

The main criterion for determining quality is the surface. Carefully consider the area of the sheet, it should be even, without wavy lines, sagging and distortion of the horizon. These defects are clearly visible when viewed from an angle and from different angles. If you have chosen a suitable option, do not limit yourself to examining one sample from the showcase. Ask for two or three more from this batch.

An important point is strength. To check, press firmly with your finger in 2-3 places on the front side, the dents that appear indicate low quality. Swipe with a fingernail or a coin - there are scratches, too bad. The panel, which is easily scratched and broken with a slight bend, will not last long, will quickly lose its attractive appearance, lose its gloss, and there will be difficulties during installation.

Check the quality of the joint: try to connect a pair of panels. This action will help determine if there are deformations and bends. It is always better to choose a thickness of 8-10 mm, the length will depend on the area of the room 6; 3; 2, 7 m. If all tests are successful, make sure that all the goods are assembled from one batch, as it is possible that differences in thickness or color saturation will be noticeable during finishing.

Types of plastic panels

Each choice is individual, there are many options for this. Plastic panels differ in coating quality:

• glossy, • matte, • printed drawing, • glued film with a picture.

Plates are divided into wall and ceiling, although the difference is only in size and thickness, for ceilings they make 4-7 mm, for walls - 7-10. The main difference is the type of docking, of which there are three options:

1.

Seamless. The grooves are designed so that the docking is practically invisible. They fit snugly, but difficulties arise during operation, since due to improper storage, bends appear that prevent smooth joining. For seamless panels, a specially leveled frame is required.

2.

Embossedimitating lining. The seam line is a decorative element. They are the cheapest and most practical for a country house. At the joints there are several millimeters of the gap, which makes it possible to hide the moments of "seasonal walking" of the foundation, changes in load-bearing structures and walls.

3.

With rust - an averaged design, between the two types of connections described above. They are rare, 38 cm wide.

Installation is carried out in two ways: on a frame or on glue. The frame base makes it possible to remove wires or pipes into the resulting space - this is a plus. The installation of the frame should take place taking into account the location of the future holes. The required hole is cut for sockets / switches, the main elements are fixed to the wall.

The lathing is made of slats that are perpendicular to the length. For walls, the step is maintained 40 cm, for the ceiling - 30. Fastening to a wooden wall is carried out on self-tapping screws, in concrete on a dowel-nail.

The next step is to install the panels. For this, a stapler, self-tapping screws, clamps are used. When the entire surface is "sewn up", proceed to decorating accessories. The corners are closed with internal and external overlays, the plinth is mounted.

Useful Tips

The panels must be adapted to room temperature (stay in the room for at least an hour). Do not remove the protective film before installation. In the course of work, achieve a tight fit into the grooves, avoid the initial skew.

Structures made of a frame assembled from a mounting profile will be more durable, and the panels are fixed with fasteners-clips. Adjust the height while leaving a gap at the ceiling and floor. For soundproofing, an appropriate material can be placed in the crate.

In places of direct contact with water, achieving complete waterproofness, the joints are coated with sealant / silicone. All slots are made on the front side. The trim is attached with liquid nails. It is not recommended to use abrasive substances, solvents and coarse scouring pads when washing.
