There is a practice of transplanting mature trees when decorating administrative buildings in cities, creating new parks, gardens and alleys. If you decide not to wait many years, growing trees from seeds or cuttings, but immediately plant adult trees, so that after a couple of years you will swing in a hammock in their shade and coolness, then you need to know some of the features of their planting and caring for such trees

Preparation of trees in nurseries

Growing trees for transplanting them in adulthood has a number of features. Such trees are grown for ten or even twenty years. Along with the formation of the crown of trees, their roots are also molded in nurseries. This is done in order to preserve all the feeding roots in a certain volume, convenient for subsequent transplantation.

Large-sized plants are transplanted practically all year round. The most favorable period is from September to May.

Mature trees are dug by hand or using specialized equipment. At the same time, manual work is more gentle for the tree. The dug out root ball is wrapped with burlap soaked in a special composition, and then another metal mesh.

Today in large cities there is a specialized technique that digs out large trees very carefully and carefully and immediately transports them to the planting site. But for the average summer resident, the services of such equipment are unlikely to be affordable.

Correct fit

The planting hole should be so deep that the upper edge of the root ball of the tree is at the level of the soil, or below the surface by 10-15 centimeters. This will make further watering of the tree and mulching the tree trunk more convenient.

In the intervals between the root ball and the prepared planting pit, fertile soil enriched with long-term fertilizers and root formation stimulants is poured. Composts, which contain a large amount of nutrients and humic acids, have proven to be the best stimulators of root formation.

Any transplantation of plants causes them a stressful state. To relieve stress and stimulate growth, you can use anti-stress drugs such as Epin.

Until the newly-made large-scaler does not form a sufficient number of new roots that can firmly fix it in the ground, it is necessary to strengthen the tree with the help of special stretch marks. They should not be removed within two years.

To create favorable conditions for the survival of the tree, the trunk circle is mulched with tree bark, chips, pine nut shells, compost or peat.

Stages of planting a large size

1. The diameter of the planting hole should be three times the diameter of the root ball. To determine the planting depth, without removing the packaging from the roots, lower the tree into the hole and mark the planting depth. Fill the hole to planting depth with compost soil. Prepare a pole to support the tree.

2. Place the tree in the planting hole. Place the pole on the windward side. Deepen it 30 centimeters, placing it as close to the trunk of the tree as possible between the roots.

3. The trunk of the tree is fastened with a pole with a wide strip of cloth. We remove the packaging from the roots and spread them on the surface of the soil. We fill the hole with nutritious soil, compacting each layer by trampling so that there are no voids left in the soil. You can wrap a clod of earth with a hose with holes. The end of the hose is taken out and later used for watering the roots and biological dressings.

4. It is not necessary to strongly pull the tree trunk to the pole. It is necessary to weave a pigtail from the fabric, the ends of which are tied on a pole. After a few weeks, the trunk must be secured more firmly. We mulch the trunk circle with a layer of 5-7 centimeters. For three years, regular watering of the tree is necessary for better development of the root system.
