Description of coffee trees

One of the varieties of such trees will be Arabian coffee. Such a plant grows wild in Ethiopia, in river valleys, at an altitude of up to two thousand meters above sea level. Arabian coffee is cultivated in numerous tropical countries.

A species such as Congolese coffee is found in the equatorial forests and savannas of the Congo river basin. This plant will be widely cultivated in Indonesia.

Coffee trees are either a shrub or a small tree that is about eight to ten meters tall. Such a tree will be evergreen, the trunk is endowed with a greenish-gray bark, the branches will be long and flexible, they can be either drooping or spreading. The leaves of this plant are short-petiolate, wavy, whole-edged and opposite. The flowers of coffee trees are painted in white tones, they are fragrant, there are three to seven flowers in the axils of the leaves, such flowers will be regular and spike-petal. It is noteworthy that the flowering and fruiting of this plant will last throughout the year. The fruit of coffee trees is an almost spherical or oval berry, painted in dark red tones. Such a berry is double-seeded, and its diameter will be approximately one to one and a half centimeters.

Description of the medicinal properties of coffee trees

Coffee trees are endowed with very valuable medicinal properties, while it is recommended to use the seeds of this plant for medicinal purposes. These seeds contain up to two percent caffeine, depending on the type of coffee tree.

Caffeine has the ability to enhance and regulate the processes of excitation in the cerebral cortex. Such caffeine in appropriate doses will enhance positive conditioned reflexes and has the ability to increase motor activity. However, it should be remembered that in high doses, such caffeine can lead to paralysis of nerve cells.

It is noteworthy that the effect of caffeine will depend on the type of higher nervous activity. Caffeine is endowed with the effect of narcotic and hypnotic drugs, will also increase the reflex excitability of the spinal cord, will excite the vasomotor and respiratory centers. In addition, under the influence of caffeine, cardiac activity will also increase. In this case, the contractions of the myocardium will become more intense, and the heart contractions themselves will become more frequent. Also, caffeine will stimulate the secretory activity of the stomach.

It should be noted that caffeine is present in numerous medications. For headaches, to stimulate mental fatigue and for first aid, coffee is used.

In case of poisoning, coffee will have a beneficial effect; after washing the stomach and intestines, the patient should be given about one or two cups of coffee. The tannins of coffee will have a positive effect on the mucous membrane of the intestines and stomach, and will also be able to precipitate the remnants of toxic substances and even prevent their absorption. Also, in case of poisoning, caffeine has the ability to tone the body, as well as to enhance weakened cardiac activity.

For diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, coffee is also used, because the tannins contained in it will help improve digestion and stop diarrhea.
