Fruit trees in the country - very many summer residents do not pay enough attention to such trees, because they think that they may not need additional care. However, such a statement is fundamentally wrong.

It should be noted that gardeners often strive to get the harvest as quickly as possible. For this purpose, many seek to acquire the highest possible seedlings. This is a misconception, as mature trees have a much higher risk of the tree dying. Small and thin seedlings have the best adaptability to new conditions.

How to choose fruit trees?

Actually, the main task of fruit trees is not only to decorate your site, but also to have a tasty harvest.

When choosing fruit trees, you will surely come across an abundance of a wide variety of varieties and species. This variety makes the choice much more difficult. Therefore, you should focus not only on your own preferences, but also on climatic conditions, terrain and relief of your site. First of all, it is worth choosing the type of fruit trees themselves. When choosing varieties, you should be guided by the presence of resistance to a variety of diseases that most often occur in your area. And after that, it is worth taking into account the taste itself, the yield of the tree and the size of its fruits.

For the middle lane, it is recommended to choose pears, plums and apple trees. But for the southern regions of Russia, quince, peach, sweet cherry, persimmon, apricot and cherry plum should also be added to these trees. Such varieties can die even with the first frost in unsuitable conditions. Therefore, the point of winter hardiness should be given special attention when choosing trees.

Planting fruit trees

First of all, you should decide on the optimal time for planting garden trees. Professionals call the best timing of spring, the period before the buds swell on the seedlings. However, many plant trees in the fall to mid-October.

Naturally, careful planning of the site where the trees will be planted is necessary. The distance between them is also very important. The places that you have chosen should be marked with stakes, and then check everything again. Summer residents recommend using the so-called landing board, which is two meters long, about fifteen centimeters wide, and no more than three centimeters thick. Triangular cuts are also needed: one in the center and two at the ends.

Pits for planting are also dug in advance, if planting is planned in the fall, then this should be done in the spring or two weeks before planting. If you plan to plant trees in the spring, then the hole should be prepared in the fall.

The root system of the seedlings should be checked before planting: parts of the roots with various damages should be cut out with a knife. The branches of the crown should be pruned to the outer bud by about one third of their length, but for gooseberries and currants, you will need to leave no more than fifteen centimeters above the soil.

Rules for planting fruit trees

When planting, you should follow some mandatory rules, which will allow you to get a good harvest in the future. The seedling should be on the north side of the stake, then the stake will protect the tree from possible sunburn at noon.

When you fill the hole, it is recommended to trample the soil, special attention should be paid to the edges of the hole. This action will help to avoid further subsidence. To avoid damage to the roots, when trampling the soil, first place your foot on your toes, and only then on the heel.

The roots of the seedling are covered with the top layer of soil, which is the most nutritious and rich in fertilizers. The soil under the roots is knocked out with hands, and the seedling itself is shaken, which will help prevent the formation of voids around the very roots of the future tree. If there is not enough land, then it can be recruited from the side.

After the hole has been filled up, the stake is cut down below the first branch of the crown itself and a seedling is tied to the stake.
