Colds rarely recede from the last day of February. And in March, there is often still snow, and the plants are still dormant. Nevertheless, as a rule, frosts are left behind, and such weather conditions are just the way for those summer residents who need to start completing the formation of crowns of young pets. Therefore, it's time to check the health of the secateurs and the condition of the household ladders
Apples and pears - down with the top
It is recommended to complete work on the formation of the crown by the 4th year of the tree's life, when it enters the fruiting period. If you miss the moment, it will become more difficult to correct mistakes in the future, and in the meantime, the yield will decline. At the same time, selective thinning pruning is carried out, and more radical ones are planned for future years.
Those who harvest high yields of bulk apples and juicy honey pears are well aware that there are many tricks in this matter. The peculiarity of the technology for pruning apples and pears is that for them, first of all, the upper part of the conductor is cut off at a height of approximately 3 m. When the tree is over 10 years old, and the conductor becomes very thick in girth, it is shortened below. Such an agricultural practice will allow to slightly open the central space of the crown. In addition, a couple of skeletal pruning is done when they grow too close. These measures help when the garden fell into your hands in a state of disrepair or the formation by the previous owner was made with mistakes. Also, experts advise to remove branches, the growth of which is directed to the center of the crown. They thicken the branches and prevent good lighting. The branches can be strong, healthy, but you do not need to feel sorry for them - their presence negatively affects the volume of the harvest.
How radical is the thinning out? Based on the state of the tree, after work, the number of skeletal branches should be within 5-8 pieces. When your pet has a tiered crown, then the distance between adjacent ones should be left about 1 m. In the event that the tree has a weak growth, the length of the branches is slightly shortened.
Following the thinning of skeletal shoots, they are taken for pruning fruiting shoots. Get rid of those specimens that are poorly illuminated by the sun, clean up those growing from below. Mainly left by those whose growth is directed to the sides.
After last year's heavy pruning this season, the tops need to be removed. Specimens that are found on the trunk at the base of the skeletal ones are cut out in a ring manner. Those that formed closer to the top are thinned out.
Plums, cherries and apricots: we cut without fanaticism
Basically, stone fruits in terms of pruning present the gardener with less trouble than apple trees and the same pears. Pruning plums, cherries and apricots is started with less zeal. They need moderate thinning to get rid of overlapping branches, as well as those that are planted too close to each other and strongly shade the crown.
Bushy varieties of cherries do not need any special shaping. But from time to time they require thinning. In the tree-like on the lower tier, 3-4 skeletal ones are left.
In grafted specimens, care must also be taken to ensure that there is no development of wild growth. Such branches must be removed immediately.
It is recommended to start the anti-aging procedure when the kidneys swell. During this period, it is easier to recognize branches that have been damaged by frost in winter. And after pruning the pets, you need to feed, loosen the soil and water.
Peaches - how to increase the yield
Peach, on the other hand, needs a lot of pruning. These people from hot regions can present a lot of surprises to the owners of summer cottages. And so that the harvest does not disappoint, it is important to know the intricacies of caring for a peach from the first years. The difference between its development and other garden pets is that in the first years of life, the tree has an active growth, but after 3-4 years it weakens and yields mainly on new shoots along the periphery of the crown. To correct the situation, crossing branches are removed without regret, those that are directed into the crown and close-sitting specimens are removed. No need to spare thin and weak shoots.
The tree is carefully inspected and mostly thick annual shoots are left on it, which have the so-called triple buds - medium growth and extreme flower buds. Thus, pruning is performed after the eighth to tenth three kidneys.

Autumn is a fertile period for the acquisition of seedlings of all kinds of fruit trees: their huge assortment will delight even the most inveterate skeptics, and the quality of copies purchased in the fall will be an order of magnitude higher. But sometimes it happens that the seedlings were acquired quite late, and the pit for planting them turned out to be completely unprepared.
