How to choose the right greenhouse - this question worries many summer residents and owners of private houses who have their own vegetable garden
A large number of crops require very specific conditions that cannot be achieved naturally. Sometimes you need a special humidity, and sometimes a high temperature. It is for this reason that you have to purchase a variety of greenhouses. The choice of such structures should be approached with special care, otherwise there is a great risk that even such measures will not help in achieving a good harvest.
How to choose a greenhouse?
First of all, attention should be paid to the frame of the greenhouse itself. Rectangular profile and galvanized steel are the best options. The round profile is designed to withstand significantly lower loads.
For a greenhouse, you should carefully choose the cover. In this case, you can choose polycarbonate. As for glass, polycarbonate
will turn out to be better, because it has a much better ability to retain heat and at the same time is very safe.
Actually, the low weight of polycarbonate also ensures the low cost of the entire product. Such a greenhouse can be moved from place to place. A glass greenhouse must be provided with a foundation.
If you choose polycarbonate, then you should prefer the highest quality materials that are protected from the so-called ultraviolet stabilizer, which is protection from the negative effects of sunlight. Such polycarbonate will serve for a very long time, unlike ordinary polycarbonate, which is not endowed with such functionality.
In addition, the size and shape of the structure should be carefully selected. Actually, size is an important parameter only for the convenience of the gardener himself. Therefore, you will have to choose on your own, there is no separate formula for success for this item. However, it should be remembered that at least three bushes of peppers or eggplants and tomatoes can be planted per square meter of area.
The dimensions of the greenhouse are also important. When calculating the useful area of the future greenhouse, you should take into account the paths and places for various technical needs, for example, for a barrel of water. The location of the beds in the greenhouse is also important, you can arrange two of them on the sides, and one in the middle, or three beds with two paths.
If the greenhouse is unheated, then proper care should be followed. It should be remembered that April is the ideal time to plant dill, onions, cabbage or radishes. If repeated frosts suddenly occur, then it is necessary to protect the plants from such weather changes. As this, you can also use a special thin non-woven material called lutrasil.
In early May, preferably in the daytime, you can already plant tomato, cucumber or eggplant seedlings in the greenhouse. This is necessary for hardening the seedlings. In the evening, the seedlings should be removed to a warm place. In mid-May, you can already sow cucumbers with dry seeds in their permanent place, covering them without fail with a film. Towards the end of May, you can already plant seedlings in the greenhouse.
Experts do not recommend keeping cucumbers and tomatoes within the same greenhouse. These thermophilic plants have different microclimate requirements. Drafts are contraindicated for cucumbers, while they require high humidity. Tomatoes, on the other hand, in such conditions are not able to develop normally: they will have poor fruit set and pollen may stick together.
In this case, it is not at all necessary to put up another greenhouse, because there are not always the necessary opportunities for this. However, there is a way out of this situation. With plastic wrap, you can fence off the part of the greenhouse where the cucumbers were planted. This method will significantly increase the humidity of the air, but at the same time avoid the appearance of such undesirable drafts. At the same time, in another part of the greenhouse it will be rather dry, this part will often be ventilated, and it is this microclimate that is considered optimal for growing tomatoes. And it should be remembered that the planting sites for cucumbers and tomatoes should be changed annually. And do not forget that the ground in the greenhouse should also be renewed from time to time.
