Autumn top dressing will give strength to the bush and increase yields in the new season. They offer to get acquainted with 6 methods of fertilization and choose the one you like
Work in the raspberry field after harvest
In the fall, the bush recovers after fruiting and prepares for the next year. Fertilization during this period gives excellent results. Work takes place at the end of August, when there are no more berries, and continues until mid-September.
The effectiveness of feeding depends on the correct preparation of the raspberry tree and which consists of several stages.
1. Pruning of fruiting branches.
2. Removal of weeds.
3. Loosening / digging (row spacing 15-20 cm, near the bush 8-10).
Top dressing of remontant raspberries takes place later, because in September it still bears fruit. Pruning and fertilization takes place in October-September.
Feeding raspberries
What fertilizers do raspberries love? - any: mineral and organic (natural). In the fall, it is better to add natural or carry out an annual alternation with mineral. Let's consider popular methods.
Method 1. Manure
When choosing natural remedies, avoid overfeeding. Fresh manure is not applied annually, once every 3-4 years is enough. Use 4-5 kg per square meter for digging. In subsequent years, manure is replaced by peat and compost.
Method 2. Peat, chicken droppings
Peat can be applied annually, spreading in a layer of 10-15 cm, then mulch. Chicken manure is used as an infusion spill: the dry concentrate is diluted with water 1:20.
Method 3. Ash
If there is wood ash, then apply it in a raspberry plant, it will saturate with potassium and neutralize the soil. Sprinkle 100 g in each barrel circle, cover with a small layer of earth and water.
Method 4. Siderata
Vetch, mustard are mowed and embedded in the soil around the bushes. In winter, the green mass will rot and increase soil fertility.
Method 5. Mineral fertilizers
In autumn, a complex of trace elements must be added to raspberries. Phosphorus and potassium are necessarily used in the mixture. It is better not to introduce nitrogen into autumn feeding or to give it in a minimum concentration, in large quantities it activates the growth unnecessary in the fall.
Superphosphate is used in a bowl: 50-60 g under a bush. 40 g of potassium sulfate are added at the same time. The applied fertilizers are embedded in the soil, 5-7 cm is enough, for 2-3 year old bushes, the dosage is halved.
Method 6. Liquid dressing
For 10 liters, take 2 tablespoons of potassium chloride or sulphate. + superphosphate in the same volume. You need 5 liters per running meter.
Experts recommend making an annual alternation of dressings: one year natural, the second mineral.
Top dressing when planting raspberries
If you are planting raspberries in the fall, apply fertilizer immediately. You will need minerals and organics. Per sq.m. rotted manure 10 kg (bucket) or the same amount of compost + st. l. potassium sulfate + 2 liters of superphosphate. If there is no potassium, replace it with nitrophos / nitroammophos 2 tbsp. l. + ash (1-2 glasses).
When planting in spring, only compost or manure can be laid under raspberries and fertilizing in the next season.
